900,000,000 Letters wouldn't get us Universal Health Care
Consider this: If every person in the United States wrote a letter to both of their senators and their one Representative in Congress and mailed it tomorrow roughly nine hundred million letters would be received in Washington by early next week. If every one of those letters demanded that Congress immediately put in place universal health care for anyone and everyone in the United States to be paid for with tax dollars, we still would not get it. Want to know why? Because all those letters, representing every person in the country, would be written off as just one segment of the nation and that the concerns of industry and commerce need also be considered. And then if anything was passed at all it would not be what every person in the country wanted.

But your hypothetical is too hypothetical to even comment on the outcome.

4. Yes, but 300 million people * 2 senators + congressperson...
Is 900 million.

Not that I dispute your other point. :)

2. Not even if they're sternly worded letters?
It would take a few million people standing outside their reps offices and refusing to leave until it passed.

3. But if everyone contributed three dollars, that would be $900 mil to lobby for it.

5. If they would even get 100,000 letters it would make a difference!
