Just Say No to Kellogg's
https://secure2.convio.net/dpa/site/Advocacy?JServSessionIdr006=6r6tnuu5p1.app8a&alertId=281&pg=makeACall

Michael Phelps' public apology for getting photographed smoking marijuana wasn't enough for the food company, Kellogg's, which announced that it would not renew its contract with the swimming champion when it expires at the end of the month.

It will hurt the Kellogg's bottom line if millions of Americans (those who smoke marijuana and plenty who don't) choose not to buy Kellogg's products because this decision smacks of intolerance and reflects poorly on the Kellogg's brand.

1. I don't generally boycott union manufacturers, and I won't be boycotting Kellogg's over this. Others
disagree, as evidenced by the several threads on this already.

5. I agree with you. The DU boycott list has to be very, very, very long.
If someone wants to boycott something, then that's their choice. Not to is my choice.

6. Did you know that at one time Kellogg's was one of the most progressive companies on earth?

And were really in to kinky sexual practices and enemas.

8. I called last week,
and spoke with a very nice woman, just telling her that I hoped Kellogg's would reconsider its decision.

We talked about kids, being young, how complicated a world it is, and she seemed perfectly open to discussing these things. I got no sense of urgency or anyone looking over her shoulder.

I told her that I'd hate for my kid to be penalized so heavily for doing something that harmed no one in her own private time, and she agreed.

I hope whoever sold that picture to that UK tabloid chokes on the money.

10. Why?
I'm a pot smoker. I didn't even know who Michael Phelps was until today when I saw calls to boycott Kelloggs because this moron was dumb enough to have his picture taken with a bong in his mouth. I smoke pot, I don't like the fact that it's illegal, yet it is. Which means I'm not stupid enough to walk around sucking off a fucking bong in front of someone with a camera. Why would I boycott a company who markets mainly to children for firing or not renewing a contract of a person with the brains of a fucking fig leaf? I don't get it.

11. Because if you really don't think it should be illegal...
than maybe it's time to stand up for that belief and draw a line in the sand.

15. Boycotting Kelloggs is not the way to stand up for your rights.
Join Norml and get involved. I have been active in legalization for 25 years. I drew a line in the sand years ago. I don't need some jock to show me where the line is. I was active in Norml before this clown was out of fucking diapers.

Frankly any longtime pot smoker will tell you that in the old days jocks used to beat up pot smokers. The pot smoking community doesn't want any help from Phelps or any other jocks. Especially if this is the kind of help they're offering.

13. good point
A picture of him doing something illegal is in the public eye. That's not the image Kellogg's paid him the bucks for.

I don't think Kellogg's had a choice, really, with all of the stuff they sell to kids. (That sugary crap is probably worse for you than pot is, but still... it's their right not to renew his contract.)
