Take a step back and ask yourself this question ....
How in the world do our elected representatives think that giving Banks and Financial Institutions billions of dollars in taxpayer money is a great idea, and but its a 'bad idea' to share a very small amount of taxpayer money with States in trouble and taxpayers who are losing their homes, their jobs, and can't pay their bills?

It is not a difficult question.

It is clearly corruption on display for all the world to see ....

And then on the local news here today, a Repub State Legislator says this crisis is a good opportunity to consolidate and eliminate government agencies(and their budgets) rather than accept any kind of federal taxpayer money from Washington --even though our State has a $2bil budget hole, and our unemployment benefits have almost run out.

Why are these people not run out of town on a rail?

2. On top of that, Repubs are pushing for more tax cuts for the wealthier citizens...
It really is crystal clear what is going on here folks ... and until people are willing to get up off their behinds and confront their representatives, we can expect more of the same.

3. Because someone keeps voting for them.
And the election system is geared to prevent challenges.

4. I'll grant you that there are 'some people' voting for them ... BUT
a huge number of 'those people' have begun to experience the full effects of 'trickle down' economics.

I don't think it will be elections that change this situation as much as it might be widespread public failure to participate in the present governmental environment.

What have people got to lose if they already lost their jobs, their homes, and have no immediate prospects of regaining either one? They don't have time to wait for more elections.

5. I can explain it if you like, but you aren't going to like the answer
If those banks are not held up our financial system will collapse - which is to say our currency will cease to have value. Were that to happen, that the dollar would become worth nothing, then it really doesn't make any difference if you gave truck loads of cash to the states, or the people, or to my pet goat.

8. Here is the answer you might not like as well ....
There is no requirement that all banks survive, or that there be a minimum number of banks operating in this country.(There is another thread with a link to a banking expert who predicts 1,000 banks will fail in the next 2-3 years!). It is about the availability of credit.

The truth is that many of the banks and financial institutions who have gotten billions of dollars are in fact insolvent. Period.

The small amount of the stimulus bill that was earmarked for state governments and taxpayers was cut out of the Senate version of the bill.

THat would not make our dollar 'worth nothing' if it was put back in the final version of the bill that comes out of the conference committee.

WE will not save the greenback by giving out billions of dollars to these crooks. We will save the dollar by 'reforming' the banks and financial institutions through regulation.

10. Because where does aid to states go?
The rich don't need unemployment insurance, public health care, food stamps etc..

By cutting off state aid, you leave more of the pie for the rich. Greed, greed, and more greed.

11. History shows that when the French set up the guillotines in town squares, attitudes began to change
The elites have 'burrowed deep inside our governmental structure' and use the very mechanisms against the people which were original designed to protect the people against folks like them.

There is going to have to be a reckoning day for these folks. The charade is up. We know what they are doing. It is time .... to confront those profitting off the misery of others. Who are paid off to protect the wealthy and their holdings(ie tax cuts).

First we have to get their attention .....
