Goya's Ghosts - and being "put to the question"
Edited on Tue Feb-10-09 12:58 AM by Duer 157099
I saw this film last night and, well, couldn't help but envisioning chimpy or cheney or turdblossom hanging up by the chandelier and being "put to the question" - my or my how history rhymes eh?

For anyone who hasn't seen it, it's about the hideousness of the Spanish Inquisition, with a decidedly contemporary point being made, imho.

"Put to the question" was the church's euphemism for torture

1. It really is the Bardem character's movie, more than Goya's...
he's just used to observe all the atrocities playing out around him...

2. Agree, of course - he's magnificent in it isn't he?
I really enjoyed the film

3. Well, he's always good. Portman isn't bad in it, either...
...but it's like they didn't *quite* know what they wanted the overall film to be...

4. I didn't know any background (and still don't)
and my whole interpretation was that it was an indictment against the Bush administration.

Or am I just too myopic these days?
