I've tried watching it but the writing is so bad sometimes. It's a soap opera for men. Low quality writing, music swells, and action rather than romance.

That said it's depictions of torture are part of the stupidity. People watch the show and think that's how it works. Someone won't say something, beat them up a little bit, and they spill the beans so Jack can save the country. This makes people think that torture works, and they become ok with it. I've had alot of conversations where people seemed to be ok with torture in the name of our own security, and each one was a 24 watcher. They think it works like that.

In reality when you torture them they either still don't say anything, or they're more likely to give you false information.

19. I saw the first episode ever...

...and it was one of the most exciting hours of TV I'd ever seen. I just never happened to watch it again, and I've heard too much about torture on the show to be interested. Torture is not okay. It's always wrong, and I won't be lied to on this point.

Val Kilmer made a pretty good movie about 5 years ago called "Spartan". "Blind Horizon" was decent as well.
