My response from union-busting Aunt Millie's Bakery...
Aunt Millie's is attempting to break their five-year agreement with Teamsters Local 414 in Indiana.

From my Teamster Facebook site:

Teamsters out of Local 414 (Fort Wayne, Indiana) are in the midst of a struggle with Aunt Millie\'s Bakery and needs any type of help you might be able to offer. Aunt Millie\'s claims to be a family oriented business where they take care of their employees and put God first, but their actions are proving otherwise.

The Teamster company semi drivers are in the middle of a 5 year contract. Management has now decided they do not want to use the Teamster company drivers anymore and are sending the work to Ryder. Last year was Aunt Millie\'s Bakey\'s most profitable year ever.

Please help by giving any type of suggestions or contacting this employer to voice your opinion.

Their contact information:
Customer Service Email: CustomerService@auntmillies.com
President John Popp: 1-800-995-8245 or 260-424-8245
Chris Popp: 1-800-995-8245 x220 or 260-424-8245

**************************************************************************************************************

My letter to Aunt Millie:

Dear Aunt Millie

Congratulations on having your most profitable year on record, last year.

Please be advised that I will be boycotting Aunt Millie's products, and will encourage all my friends to do the same, until you cease breaching your contract with Teamsters local 414 by outsourcing work to Ryder.

Yours truly,

****************************************************************************************************************

My email from "Millie":

Thank you for contacting Aunt Millie's Bakeries. We appreciate your concern about the Teamsters local 414. Our Management team here at Perfection Bakeries are looking at Ryder Trucking Company to do the transpiration for our bread products. Nothing has been finalized and this will only effect the drivers that work in Fort Wayne Indiana. Ryder will hire the current employees under essentially the same terms and conditions they currently have.

Tracy Stevens

Customer Service Rep.

And my response:

Thank you for the reply, although I'm not sure what "transpiration" means in this case.

I will continue to buy baked goods that are "essentially the same" as yours, until you honor your contract!

******************************************************************************************************

Please, DUers, help put the pressure on these union-smashing scum! If you're in the IN area, please visibly but peacefully help the Teamsters and other Union members in your community by spreading the word and boycotting Aunt Millie!

Thanks,
CanuckAmok, Local 213

3. I'll stop buying their products too...I'll pass this info around at our
UAW Chrysler plant here in Kokomo, as well. I copied the info from the Teamsters site and will put it up on our union bulletin boards in the plant.

I only buy Aunt Millie's when it's on "sale" anyway.

SOLIDARITY!

ps..you might wanna cross post this into The Indiana Forum here at DU for more exposure

5. Do You Have Any Facts Or Links To Provide? I Want To Be Able To See Which Side Is Right In The
matter. It's hard to do that when the only information given is that of extreme bias.

7. well....
The Teamsters site had the original statement, and the Aunt Millie's rep confirmed that they are outsourcing the union jobs to Ryder. If you can provide any more facts or links, I'm all ears, but I've already seen enough to convince me.

8. Response from Aunt Millie's
I am the Marketing Director at Aunt Millie's.

Unfortunately there has been some misinformation about the
outsourcing concept which has created concern.
The key points are:

1. Ryder will hire the current drivers consistent with the
fundamental terms of the current contract. That is a part of
the agreement.

2. Ryder’s employees at their location are members of the
same Teamsters union, local #414.

3. Many of Aunt Millie’s products are sold by Teamster
route sales representatives who earn a living from commission
sales.

4. There are legitimate questions about this change and
Aunt Millie’s labor relations personnel are having discussions
about those concerns with Teamsters local 414.

We hope that once everyone understands what we are trying to
do, your concerns will be dispelled and you will not boycott
our products.
