For those who boycott establishments that air Faux:
my DH had jury duty last week. Hundreds showed up, and his number wasn't called for the morning quota. He sat around waiting for the next round of numbers to be called.
While everyone was waiting, the tube was turned on to fill the void - to Faux News. This is the Harris County Courthouse in downtown Houston. Very bad taste; what's a person to do?

1. Watch it
And treat it as good ole fashioned humor like I do.

2. I've waited several times in that exact same spot. I always took my knitting
and a book. Guess I would need to add earplugs now.

3. Ask for a different channel..
Explain that he finds Faux too partial to a certain political party and he thinks that he should not have to be subjected to such programming. Equate it to porn. If they deny, it could become a great lawsuit since it is a public court house.

5. Tell them
you think its a conspiracy, and that they are trying to sway your viewpoints, so that in the case you are involved with, all you can think about is WH talking points.

6. That would be fun to try. Does the government have a right

to force those called for jury duty to hear any tv program? Or to forbid them to read, as they do here? (I am talking about reading while waiting to be called for voir dire, not reading while serving on the jury, just to be clear. No one could realistically expect to be allowed to read while they're supposed to be hearing a case.)

8. Banning newspapers or other current events sources would be reasonable
A novel would not be. Not sure what to do about computers, espcially is there is an open wireless router nearby.

12. I would think an argument could be made...
that you were being subjected to programming that consistently infringed on your beliefs, and due to the detrimental content, you either must be excused from waiting for jury duty, or they must change the channel.

15. This is it
this is the argument. They are insidiously swaying people.

They should do like they do in the federal building in Philadelphia - play harmless old movies.

14. Yes. I laughed at it while it was on when my car was getting its oil changed.
Shook my head at how pathetic their stories were too.

The other people waiting started bitching about Bush shortly thereafter.

19. No laughing or talking?
When I was called for jury duty, we were all laughing and talking while waiting to be called.

No Faux News at our courthouse thankfully.

17. TV-B-Gone is your friend.
http://www.tvbgone.com/cfe_tvbg_main.php

Your TV-B-Gone® universal remote control resembles other TV remote controls, but is different in two important ways. First, it only has a power button that allows you to switch a TV on or off. You control when you see, rather than what you see. Second, the device is so small that it easily fits in your pocket, so that you have it handy whenever you need it wherever you go: airports, bars, restaurants, laundromats, etc.

18. Do a "Mystery Science Theater 3000" number on it
I'm sure that once you start heckling it loudly, you'll get at least three or four others to join in.
