1. The company I worked for before the one I'm with now
went out of business 12/31. 40 people lost their jobs.

5. I'm about as close to me as I can get. Another of my former
co-workers was let go last week. It was a nice small company. I have a feeling that in the next few weeks it will be gone altogether. Good product, good pricing, saturated market and no-one is buying.

Sad

6. Add another possibility.

"Multiple friends/family"

With what you show we can only vote singularly.

8. My brother-in law.
He and his co-workers were told last week that their office will be closing at the end of May. He'll get a month of severance pay. My sister was relieved that he wasn't let go immediately.

9. co-workers
no big layoff, just a little at a time over the past 3 months. They don't do it all at once or all of a sudden so it doesn't make the news. They are not technically fired. They are considered a reduction in workforce and have 3 months to find another job in the company. There just aren't that many jobs in the company. It's a sneaky way to get rid of people. One person was 3 months from retirement :-( It's tense at work. Any day it could be me.

10. The key word is "recently".
My BF and I both fell out of the middle class back in the early 1990s. Never gotten a decent job since then. Education and skills are a big disadvantage.

11. I've still got my job, but I've been cut to 32 hours a week. That's a 20% pay cut.
Now I'm trying to get 5 days worth of work done in 4 days. It's rather stressful... :(

12.  A large plant here.....
...has gone to a 4-day work week to avoid lay-offs for now. They are a supplier to the airline industry so they will probably get to lay-offs before long. My brother works there. He has a small farm out in the sticks where he raises a huge garden and there is all kinds of wild game. His electric bill runs about $60/month, so he can live very cheaply if need be. I live at a lake and I could survive on fish if I had to. My freezer is currently packed! I usually swap him fresh fish for vegetables. A good deal for both of us.
