We need to fix our homeless problem.
I've been thinking of the townhall meeting today with the that poor homeless lady. It is just so heartbreaking to think that we permit such things in our beloved country. Why can't these folks have a warm place with a roof over their heads in a country as great as ours? Are we real Americans? For if we were, we would never permit such things to happen in America, and if once discovered, would do everything within our power to fix it...

3. Did you see the woman to her left say "I love you Barack Obama"?
When President Obama (that sounds good) went down to give Henrietta a kiss on the cheek, another woman to the left of the screen was enthralled by his compassion and clearly said that on screen.

I hope some REALLY good things happen for Henrietta. She has clearly born a great burden ... and kept her humanity.

4. Florida is chock full of vacant condos and houses. If a government can't put that fact
together with the homeless facts immediately, reach a quick solution, what use is it?

5. Why not bring back section 8 housing.
like it was before Reagan tampered with it. It worked then except for the crooks who made a fortune.

7. You probably know much more about it than I do-but subsidizing housing for
the homeless in overbuilt Florida just seems like a sensible move to me.

8. One on the good ideas
concerning section 8 was that you paid what you could afford with utilities matching the offer. The Florida condos would be a great match for section 8 housing. Rent would be $1 and up according to your salary. What the tenant couldn't pay the federal gov would make up within reason. This worked for the mentally ill after Reagan closed many mental institutions and they were put out on the street.

10. It's just sinful...
and I'm not a particularly religious person. Whether this country is in an economic crisis or not, the homeless do need our help.
If you go over to the poverty forum, Bobbolink and MaryF post lots of important action information for interested folks.

Once I stop traveling so much and am in the country for longer than 2 weeks at a time, I'm going to try and figure out something to do on my university campus to raise awareness.
