Edited on Wed Feb-11-09 01:10 PM by Quixote1818
in two years when the economy is growing again knowing the Republicans voted almost unanimously against the stimulation bill?

Seems to me the Republicans are gambling that this recession will last another 24 months. Based on past recessions that is a very poor gamble. The probability of it lasting that long is very low considering none of the other recessions since 1948 have lasted that long. They could end up looking really bad here with the public knowing they fought Obama from the get go and the economy growing again in a little more than a year.

However, Bush's recession in 2001 took 47 months for jobs to recover.

3. Every economist I respect says this recession will last a long time.
Way longer than 15 months. This is a severe global recession and unlike the last few recessions.

4. CNN.COm (or was it msn) had an article people responded to
They're already branding Obama a socialist and saying HE is doing revisioning regarding the last 8 years.

FUCKING IDIOTS!!

And I don't often swear. How can they be so blind??

Obama only had one lengthy pause in his first address to the nation. Hardly an 'epic fail' despite these dweebs finding any excuse to brand him otherwise. Everything the President has said proves he is aware of the problems facing our nation. He said it would take everybody to do their part. AND that most jobs (90%) will be coming from the private sector -- so it's not socialism.

5. They'll be on the "liberal media" going on and on about how this is a "false" recovery
and that the real recovery would be much better if we would have only eliminated any taxation of any dollars for millionaires and billionaires ...

6. If things are this bad in 15 months then it's the in-party that usually takes the lumps
no matter whose to blame. Democrats will lose seats in house and senate.

8. The REPUBLICANS screw up the system, then don't do anything to fix it.
They sit on their asses and wait for the Democrats to take office. They know the democrats will do what's needed to keep the country operating - then the REPUBLICANS that caused all the mess in the first place sit back on their fat pimply hemorrhoid asses and point their shit stained fingers at the totally innocent Democrats.

The sad part is, the public is ignorant to what is going on and will vote the bastards back in. It's like the movie Groundhog Day!

10. tha'ts the nightmare scenario
that we seem to be heading toward

that's why so many economists wanted Obama's SB to be colossal, to really address the problem and start things on a course to recovery.....now, it's very uncertain

14. If the latest Rasmussen poll is to be believed, you could be correct.
Generic Congressional Ballot
Parties Now Neck-and-Neck on Generic Congressional Ballot

Are Republicans winning the public relations battle over spending in the $800-billion-plus economic stimulus package? Democrats and Republicans are nearly even in this week's edition of the Generic Congressional Ballot.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone surveys found that the Democrats’ lead is down to just one percentage point. Forty percent (40%) of voters said they would vote for their district’s Democratic candidate while 39% said they would choose the Republican (see crosstabs).

This marks the lowest level of support for the Democrats in tracking history and is the closest the two parties have been on the generic ballot.

Only four percent (4%) said they would vote for a candidate from another political party.

13. When the bill passes
And the economy would return to full employment in 15 more months.....they will get their asses handed to them for trying to stop progress...

If on the other hand their bet of lasting more than 24 months.......we lose big.

Your right....they are betting on it lasting for longer than 15 months
