Nadya Suleman has launched a website for donations

The mother of the eight babies has now launched a website asking for donations of money and goods.

According to The Huffington Post she owes $50,000 in student loans along with being on food stamps and disability and having three children who have various degrees of a disability. One child is autistic, and that is no small matter. I can not get my head around this. It is beyond my comprehension.

This woman created a family for reasons that have yet to be revealed.

During this time of economic anxiety, we have a women with no money who has used the expensive alternative of in vitro fertlization to give herself 14 children. She has no job. She has been living on disability. Her story brings up concerns about the ethics of the medical profession, the rise of using notoriety and the media to cash in, (see Joe the Plumber), the cost to taxpayers to raise special needs children, and what being a parent really means.

As I've stated before, I have a large family myself. But I'm not a single parent. My ex-husband, my current husband, and I all work together to support the children. We have the money and the time for all of the kids.

She seems to be in a fantasy world here. "Look at me! I had eight babies in one pregnancy, plus I have six other children! I'm special! Send me money or else the babies will suffer!"

At first, I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt. Maybe it was just her doctor who was careless, maybe the reports we heard weren't accurate, etc. Now, I'm just sad for her children, especially those little babies.

Who is going to rock them to sleep and snuggle with them? Who is going to hold them and talk to them while they are eating? Will the mom have time to play little games with them while getting them dressed or bathed? No woman alive can give eight newborns the love and attention that they need, and it doesn't sound like she has an army of nannies standing by to help.

This whole situation is just too sad. ;(
