She provided a good forum for the Edwards to answer them, and allowed them to respond fully without interruption. I am sure the Edwards were expecting every single one of those questions to be asked, as they were the obvious ones.

I don't understand the problem people have with this interview. What am I missing? :shrug:

11. I didn't have a problem with the questions so much as her tone.

"some say" is NOT appropriate and she rode right over Elizabeth several times when Elizabeth called her on the amount of time she has left.Elizabeth said "everyone is going to die" and Katie just kept yapping. Katie seemed to have indicated that she made her mind up and thought the Edwards were wrong, especially about the children.Her "but they are baby birds" was a non sequitor.
Re look at the interview and watch Elizabeth's eyes. Listen carefully as she controls her voice.She doesn't like Couric and is controlling her anger. Katie was condescending.I agree the Edwards came out looking good but no thanks to Katie.

9. Ok I just watched it on CBS's website.

And while I hate the media as much as anyone else here, I am stunned at the level of animosity towards Katie Couric over this interview. I'm almost sorry I watched it because it was easy enough for me to just go along with the notion that the media is hard-hitting on the Dems as per usual.

But now I'm finding myself in the unfamiliar and awkward position of defending the media against exaggerated attacks here. Whatever questions Couric asked were good ones I guess because Edwards came out from it looking pretty darn good. I think he's better off AFTER the interview than he was before it because he did such a commendable job. It's hard not to respect their decision after hearing their explanations.

As for Couric, I thought her body language seemed neutral, the questions were mostly ok, a couple things she said were borderline but nothing deserved the belligerent response she's getting here and certainly nothing deserving of her being called a bitch.

I think Couric did fine.

People make the mistake of equating an interview with an argument. If you and I are arguing in a bar, and I say "But don't you think your family should come first?", you could reasonably read that to mean that *I* believe your family should come first.

In an interview, though, the interviewer is NOT asking the question as if expressing a personal opinion. It's an opportunity to let the subject expound on the subject.

15. I watched the interview last night and I felt that Couric hated doing this interview. The

way she was setting her mouth, she looked positively awful. My take was that she was asking the hard questions that the Edwards will be facing from the wrongwing and that she was steeling herself with every question she asked.

Seriously ... look at Elizabeth's lovely face, with its lines and character, and look at the Botoxed, Dermabraised, collagen-filled mask looking back at her. Katie has destroyed her own face (she's turning into plastic Cher) and her ability to form any sort of facial expression. Not unlike half the actresses in Hollywood (are you listening, Nicole Kidman?)

I wasn't crazy about Katie's tone, but the interview was fine -- and, as "some others" here have said, it gave the Edwardses a chance to come off GREAT!

I'm just appalled at what Katie's done to her face in the pursuit of trying to pretend she's not 50 years old.
