It was on Hairballz.
What struck me was the deference shown to Specter and the near-invisibility of Collins. She spent the entire interview partially obscured by Specter's shoulder. She had that look on her face like a politician's wife who looks fawningly at her husband as he wows the crowd with his Great Politicianality - except Collins seemed to really be feeling exactly that.
Matthews pretty much ignored her except to throw her a few lightweight slowballz. Specter droned on and on and on ....... unstopped by Matthews, who normally talks over his guest when his gnat-like attention span causes him to do that verbal Tourettes thing he does.
I know she's dumb as a post. She sure showed it yesterday.

1. Collins showed openness to negotiation |
|
She said "I'm sure they will want some changes" and signaled that that was the way things are done (and as they were and are being done) and Spector stepped all over her to insist that there would be no changes or no bill. In fairness I think Tweety led him there with the line of his questioning. I was pretty annoyed at the way he was asking him if he'd still support the bill if changes had to be made..like "so will you surrender in the end or will you block firmly set on your own version. Tweety wanted some hardball and Spector obligingly stepped up to the plate. Collins, I think knowing better, declined to get into the posturing which is all that it was. I do not think that shows her to be dumb..quite the opposite.

2. I also found the body language striking |
|
Can you imagine how weird it would be if a man assumed the same posture as Collins did?
