Quit dancing around salary caps and bonus caps and whatever caps
They are afraid to raise taxes because they will have to pay more taxes too.

5. Ambiguous postings that must lead to preconceived end, yet never do.
At which point outrage at lack of liberals on a "democrat" board are declared.

It's the MO of the OP.

28. And by the way,
there is no ambiguity in a very singular theme of raising taxes.

6. Nobody is getting it. Nobody is talking about taxes.
Why aren't they talking about raising taxes. Why aren't you talking about raising taxes ? Let them make all the money they want to and raise the taxes. Then they will work harder to make more money and pay more taxes.

Geez, I can see you're excited about this but give it a rest.

15. Why are you worried about how many threads ?
Worry about why they are not taxing all the things that everyone is complaining about. Is it wrong to talk about raising taxes instead of complaining about high salaries?

18. Server space and load, for one...
...but mostly, it's annoying to read the SAME thread topic over and over.

I don't agree with your idea because the only legislated limits on CEO salaries should be for those companies receiving taxpayer dollars. Otherwise, it should be a matter decided by a company's board...who have to answer to the shareholders.

...and I don't agree with taxing 95% of ANY amount. Punitive taxation is wrong.

its paying the bills by those who have gained the most from the country.

21. Our opinions differ.
I believe that 95% is punitive and I see no need for it.

I also have no problem with a CEO making $50M/year if the shareholders agree and the company is getting no taxpayer money.

27. What about raising taxes for Universal health care?
What about raising taxes for free college education? What about raising taxes for energy jobs programs ? What about raising taxes to pay the national debt ? They keep saying that our children and grand children and their children are going to have to pay for this. Pay for it now. Raise taxes.

Raising taxes is just one of the tools we have available to foster long-term security. Raising them too much can have detrimental effects.

Wrong answer. Really, why would you say that? Every tax increase has preceded an economy surge. Every decrease has led to a recession.

31. There comes a point where excessive taxes are a disincentive to earning.
Hell, I'm retiring in seven years and I'm moving to Costa Rica...in part, to minimize my tax burden.

People with more money and, therefore, more mobility can easily do the same.

Consider one of the main problems with welfare. Due to the income cutoffs for benefits, people are sometimes penalized for working. If they don't work, they can get by. If they work at all, they lose more benefits than their income makes up for. Excessive taxation can lead to the same thing...a disincentive to earn.

There's absolutely no reason to soak the wealthy. Raising the top brackets slightly and adjusting some deductions would be sufficient.

32. Your are right. Welfare benefits should be scaled.
I know a lot of people at that line. It is a shame that low income people bear the brunt of all societies short comings. Just like raising gas prices to curb consumption is disastrous to poor people. THey can barely get by and then whamoo, they are spending more on gas than on their kids to help clean air for somebody else's kids. For sure their are inequities. I am sure they were aware of the welfare cutoff problem, but left it to generate hostility to-wards recipients. Unfortunately, the only solution is to accept the inequities.

That's how a forum works. You post a thread and if people are interested, they'll reply.

If not, there's no point in posting it over and over and over again.

Me in a high bracket! I am for taxing 100% over $3 million a year. 95% over a million is fine. But, spamming the board with sentence fragments does little good.

All the talk is about capping salaries and bonuses and everybody is afraid to say raise their taxes. Raise their taxes. They are picking individual actions because they don't want to raise their own taxes.

Raise taxes on the highest income bracket. It's a no-brainer. One post would do it.
