does Vanity Fair not want me because I'm not rich?

My Vanity Fair subscription lapsed a few months ago. It sneaked up on me. I thought I had another year to go. Oh well.

They've never asked me to resubscribe. I've never experienced that before.

Do they just not love me demographically?

Why would they not want to get me to continue to subscribe?

I love some of the investigative stories they publish. And editorially and politically, I'm with them about a hundred percent. I loathe their obsession with wealth and status, but I still like the magazine, mostly.

Could they have decided not to send me a renewal notice because they found out I wasn't rich?

(On the other hand, I've been getting Rolling Stone, that I never ordered. :shrug: )

2. It's sad, but no, they might not love you demographically enough to push a re-sub on you.

Their primary source of revenue is the ads. They are able to charge more for those ads based on the demographics of their subscribers. And if your eyeballs aren't demographically in a place to be buying what those ads have to sell, they would just as soon lose you as a reader. Sad but true.

As is mentioned in another post, you can pick up a cheaper subscription. But they're not going to beg and plead for you to come back.

3. I would appreciate at least one request from them to stay on. :)

It reminds me of a local magazine here where I live. It's named after our small city. I haven't read it, but it looks pretty slick. They send free copies to all the very rich neighborhoods. If you live elsewhere it's seven bucks at the newstand. I guess it makes business-sense, but it just seems kind of wrong.
