The number of bombs dropped over Afghanistan rose 64 percent in January — the first monthly increase since July.

Last month, Air Force, Navy and other coalition planes dropped 138 bombs on 1,792 close-air support sorties, according to Air Forces Central, compared with 84 munitions in December. That total is still less than was dropped in January 2007 or 2008.

Above Iraq last month, warplanes released just three bombs on 1,272 close-air support sorties.

Transports delivered 14,069 tons of cargo, 100,962 passengers and airdropped 1.37 million pounds of supplies in January. Tankers flew 1,400 sorties, pumping 96 million pounds of fuel into aircraft.

1. What effect? I wouldn't be planning any weddings over there

If you must get married, I advise keeping it small, indoors, just immediate relatives & friends, with a 1 Mullah MAXIMUM, and no catered reception.

2. To the effect of creating more resistance and making the war even more unwinnable.
Collateral damage means more angry folks looking to help anyone (Taliban) who resists the "foreign invaders".
