Did I hear right on today's Thom Hartmann show that he thinks Darwin's theory is "atheist mythology"
I will admit, I was listening (on delay) while making dinner for me and the kid. So perhaps, in fairness, I didn't hear that right.

However, if I did hear that right, he's fucking nuts.

I'll leave it at that for now, in case I'm just way off base. But my respect for him would go out the window if he actually thought of the theory of Evolution as "mythology".

Obviously, he's not stupid. That's why I'm surprised.

1. He has trouble with the part about unicorns being out-competed by dragons
And who can blame him, really?

5. I was hoping I heard that out of context. Thom is such a smart host
and I learn something every show it seems. I was hoping that was a mistake on my part. Because anyone who thinks that people were created by sky daddy 6000 years ago just won't be on my radio anymore.

I wonder what he meant by that comment. Perhaps it was just in setting up the guest.

Oh well.....At least Thom shows up every day. Unlike Randi Rhodes and the "technical issues" she is having.

4. NO, he debated a silly creationist
I heard most of it and he had a Creationist on and was debating him, very well from what I heard. After the creationist, he had people calling in talking about how Evolution was science and must be taught in the schools. That was Thom Hartman's position anyway, I believe the creationist was the one saying that Evolution was mythology.

Thom Hartman usually has some completely brain-dead specimen on to debate at around 1pm (Eastern time anyway), which is right when I get back from lunch and tune it. It is always frustrating, but the creationist was so silly it didn't make me too mad to have to hear him spout until Thom took his crap apart.

I'm relieved! :)

8. He also had a guest who was a Darwin researcher
after the creationist and they were discussing how a lot of Darwin's words are taken out of context. It was very interesting. I got the impresion Thom admires Darwin.

9. Thom admires and believes in a scientific approach to everything. Although he
is a spiritual person and well versed in the Bible, he doesn't consider it the final word especially when it comes to science.
