SURPRISE! Dems Break Promise: Stimulus Bill to Floor Friday
Human Events ^ | 02/12/2009 | Connie Hair

Posted on Thursday, February 12, 2009 7:51:09 PM by cc2k

In a press conference Thursday, the House Republican leadership spoke candidly about being kept out of the House-Senate conference on the Obama-Pelosi-Reid so-called “economic stimulus” bill. They confirmed they had not yet seen the text of the bill as of 4 p.m.

<SNIP> The fact that the Demos have now broken their promise to have the public able to see the bill for 48 hours may drive more Dems into the Republican camp.

don’t know, ‘cause they haven’t seen the bill either,” Boehner said.

“The American people have a right to know what’s in this bill,” Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind) told HUMAN EVENTS after the press conference. “Every member of Congress -- Republicans and Democrats -- voted to post this bill on the internet for 48 hours, 48 hours ago. We’ll see if the Democrats keep their word.”

13. A very small and insignificant minority.
And making themselves more insignificant each day when they open their mouth.

Also see here: State representative joins group challenging Obama's citizenship

They have some state senator from TN who is joining their lawsuit over President Obamas birth certificate which they're falling all over themselves about. "This time it's going to work, it is really, really, going to work."

What a bunch of worthless bastards.

So Boehner didn't see the bill ...
Was he getting drunk??? He does appear to be inebriated most times he steps before a camera. Or maybe he was off getting his fake tan refreshed.

oh, puh-leez. If Boehner is the best the Rethuglicans can do for leadership, perhaps they should do us all a big favor and go home. They aren't adding anything of any significance to the conversation.

3. I remember several times
that bills were passed in the middle of the night and final versions weren't even on paper.

4. What total horseshit...............
Edited on Thu Feb-12-09 10:43 PM by Tangerine LaBamba
When did this come up, the idea of posting the bill on the Internet?

Yeah, that's a really good idea. They should do it with EVERY bill. And then not be able to vote on it until EVERY American has read the proposed bills and made a comment.

That will work.

These people, they're so uninspiring, aren't they?

Oh, I LOVE this line (I should not go to freeperland - I always end up feeling like I need a shower.) - but this line is priceless:

"It looks like they are going to ram it through without letting the Congress see it."

Isn't that PRECIOUS?????

10. "Ram it through without Congress seeing it?" - what, you mean
like Bushco did with the USA PATRIOT Act???????

Naw, because that would mean that freepers are HYPOCRITES, and that can't possibly be true........

17. Nancy Pelosi
said it would be published on the internets --- I heard her. (They always are published eventually - )

Yes... bills are passed all the time without most of those freaks (yes, I called them freaks... because most of them are freaky.) seeing any of it - most of them don't read the things - take for example THE PATRIOT ACT.... I recall Michael Moore driving around in an ice cream truck reading it over a loud speaker.

The freepers are a bunch of shitheads on a stick. They can kiss my ass.

18. In that movie,
remember John Conyers laughing when he was asked if he'd read the Patriot Act before the vote?

I know they're online eventually, but putting them up before they're voted on - that's just a waste of time. If people saw what bills really look like while they're in the mark-up stage, they'd lose their minds.

Oh, those people at freerepublic are frighteningly stupid. I resent SO MUCH that one of their votes counts the same as mine. And yours.

5. The GOP doesn't need to see the bill
They've already registered their "no" votes. What difference could reading the bill possibly make to the way they're going to vote? They apparently just like the sound of their own whining.

7. When Obama made that promise... was the world economy in the f'n toilet?
I mean, was it worldwide news out in the open that it was in the crapper by then?

I don't think it was. So Freeperville is mixing apples and oranges in their calliope blender and pouring out more goo.

Different day, same story.

And how come free trade requires so much government welfare?

Freepers have that uncanny ability to ignore facts and embrace fiction.

23. The question I'd love to see them answer:
Why wasn't any of this an issue when it was Tom Delay's congress ramming bills through on emergency rules, or holding votes open for hours while he wrangled the required number of votes?

Why is all of this rule-bending suddenly an issue of vital importance, when the GOP majority was doing all of it and much worse for years?

Turnabout is fair play. Suck on that.

19. This is great stuff:
>>>>>The office secretary was cold as a street-market codfish. I couldn’t blame her. We were there to have words with her boss. Jim, wearing his Navy cap, asked about the senator's whereabouts, but the secretary wasn't helping. It was distressing to see a wheelchair-bound Navy veteran being treated with such disrespect by a senator's staff.

So I flung open Specter’s back office door, and yelled like I was back in the country hollering for my dog. I yelled that I wanted to talk to somebody. Now!!! Specter’s chief of staff slinked out and gave us a few minutes of his time. We let him know that the country is angry, and we aren’t standing by as they decimate our Constitution and saddle our grandchildren with staggering debt.

Specter, along with two other spineless Republicans, have betrayed our country by joining hands with the socialist-in-chief and his minions, the Democrats. They have hoodwinked those still under the spell of Obamamania, and are force-feeding the rest of us with their spend-and-smile bill that will do nothing to stimulate the economy.<<<<<

OMG--this poster has got to be a would-be writer hasbeen (or neverwas) who fancies themself a cheap detective, film-noirish Sam Spade type. I've never heard such complete and utter trash writing, and I've read a lot of shit in my day.

Bulwer-Lytton has nothing on them. Yikes.

20. Who cares what right-wingers think?
They're a tiny, impotent faction now. They proved themselves incapable governing for eight years. They're having too much influence as it is-- they should be much more thoroughly ignored.
