Recalled Pet Food Still On Shelves
Check your local grocery store, mine still had some of the affected brands on the shelves.

www.PetConnection.com provides frequent updates on the poisoned pet food recall:

The media is under-reporting the pet deaths related to the pet food

Pet-food recall: What you need to know
Update 3/26: More than 1,700 pets have been reported as deceased to our PetConnection database.

Pet Connection Staff says the recall is for 90 brands, fancy and low end wet food:

The recall includes more than 90 brands of "wet" food in cans or pouches, with brands ranging from house brands at retailers such as Wal-Mart and Safeway to brands from well-known pet-food companies such as Nutro, Iams and Hill.

Pet Connection's Blog says dont feed ANY of these brands PERIOD

And yes, Menu Foods has now recalled all of its previously recalled labels, regardless of manufacturing date. Here’s a longer explanation of why, from the American Veterinary Medical Association. The AVMA says it’s not because foods beyond the recall range are suspected of being tainted, but because it’s easier to pull entire brands off the shelves instead of checking each can or pouch. In any case: Don’t buy or feed these brands, regardless of manufacture date.

1. Knowing the way the media thrive on sensationalism, hype, and panic
why are they downplaying the number of deaths and illnesses involved with this mass poisoning event, to the point of ignoring readily available information?
I think I know.
Remember how they had people scrambling to hardware stores to buy plastic sheeting and duct tape over nothing?

3. I think the media are being responsible
in reporting confirmed cases.

Self-reported cases on a website aren't confirmed. Thousands of pets die every day, and not all of them are caused by tainted food.

2. Menu Foods has acted irresponsibly throughout this ordeal...........
and doesn't deserve to stay in business.

4. I brought back all my canned Iams cat food
on the way home from my Midnight to 8 shift, very bleary eyed. I just left out Purina One dry for them today. Maybe I misread the news piece last night (cuts and gravy), but I would rather be safe than sorry. I bought Fancy Feast.

The supermarket had removed every single brand of pouch cuts and gravy, dog and cat, from the shelves. However, I did notice that the Iams cuts and gravy CANS were still there. I checked the numbers on a few cans. Yes, they were from that plant, but the serial numbers were lower. I suppose those will now be removed also; better to just removed everything made by Menu Food.

I checked the Purina website and they said none of their cat food is manufactured by Menu Foods. They are manufactured here in the US at their own plants. That was enough for me. Once again, better to not take a chance at all. Hopefully, their wheat products are grown in THIS country.

What a mess. My sympathies to all those who have lost their pets to this.
