Amazon selling rape simulation game
A game that involves the player stalking victims and then raping them in a virtual world is being offered for sale by online retailer Amazon.com, the Belfast Telegraph's website can reveal.

The shocking 'rape simulator', Rapelay, is set in Japan and carries a sickening game description on the Amazon website. An MP said last night that he plans to raise the issue in Parliament.

Reviews by gaming websites have expressed horror at the basis for the game.

One website review describes "tears glistening in the young girl's eyes" as she is attacked in graphic detail.

Players begin the game by stalking a mother on a subway station before violently raping her. They then move on to attack her two daughters described as virgin schoolgirls.

Players are also allowed to enter 'freeform mode' where they can rape any woman and get other male game characters to join the attacks.

Pregnancy and abortion are listed as 'key features'. One review said: "If she does become pregnant you're supposed to force her to get an abortion, otherwise she gets more and more visibly pregnant each time you have sex.

"If you allow the child to be born then the woman will throw you in front of a train!"

I no longer own the game and unlike the other 2 I have never completed it. I did hear the last mission of Vice City was similar to the ending of Scarface. And Ken Rosenberg is an obvious ripoff of Sean Penn's character in Carlito's way.

Whomever thought a game about traumatizing women for life would be fun needs some serious psychiatric intervention at the very least.

Just because something isn't pretty, doesn't mean that it isn't true.

1) It's marketed because there are people who will buy it.
Are you suggesting there aren't people that would buy it? Why are they making it then?

2) Humans hide a world of fantasies in their minds.
Do you doubt this at all?

3) I'm willing to say we all have them and most all of us don't act on them.

cause if i didnt want to go thru answering those stupid questions... we are on message board, i get to pick and chose what i answer.

even in porn, lines need to be drawn by society and not thru law (i am expanding now) but simply "cause" it is the right thing to do.

I was simply trying to get you to stop with the knee-jerk attacks. You seem to have stopped one, only to replace it with others. You now go onto other straw men that no one on this board is touching. No shit there are sick fucks in this world, you're the one who seems intent to show that the people on this very thread are those same sick fucks.

Most recently, I stated that there was nothing untrue with those 3 lines that the posted noted that you apparently had some kind of beef with. Rather than address that, you stated a non-sequitor. I'll take that as you suggesting that you do, in fact, think that they are true. I just think there are many here who are perpetually outraged and somehow need to direct that outrage at fellow DUers whenever possible. I think the DU would be best with less of those knee jerk, outraged responses. I appreciate that you apologized to the poster and myself. You ask what I want from you? I want nothing from you but for you to have a happy life and maybe think a bit more before attacking someone. But you know very well what my issue was with.

firstly i never mde the statement there was an untruth. for third time i will say that for ME.... it is a justifying, acceptance of the game. true or not, it doesnt matter to ME. secondly, sometimes i am knee jerk when i am really angry, not generally. but i was feeling a bit sick with this one. but i immediately reconized my mistake with your help and i thought took it in good stead. the poster seems to have accepted my pentence much quicker than you.

third

the arrogant last statement.... you know very well....

if i did know very well i would not have asked what the fuck do you want. knee jerk.... not so much. a getting to the point of asking you what your problem is. why are there so many posters on this board that makes the assumption they know the person, what they are thinking and then.... when the poster clarifies, they tell them they are wrong.

really, you arent saying that, i know... you are saying this. no i am not. yes you are. i know. no. yep.... you are

drives me mad.

i would take a knee jerk for the person to come to realization they made a mistake over this attitude any day of the week.

i am pretty honest in my posts. dont play games. doesnt mean i dont have differing views or feel strongly about something or even make a mistake.

but i dont tell people who and what they are with no information at all.

Looks like seabeyond and county worker worked it out b/w them, pretty simply and pretty well.
And what you wanted was to dictate the way that seabeyond should reply to you and then berate, belittle and bully seabeyond when that didn't happen to YOUR specifications.
Seabeyond did a decent job of pointing out that seabeyond's posts aren't your decision and you have no right to demand their form.
Yet you continue with the bullying and demands that your expectations be met.
All this AFTER seabeyond acknowledged an error and apologized and made peace with the original poster.

Thank you for such a literate, sanctimonious, unrepentant example of the classic authoritarian bully demanding that unless his needs are met, he will continue to victimize his prey WHILE pretending to be offended at the "permanent outrage" of others. And "blame the victim"!!!

13. It's marketed because there are people who will buy it.
"Humans hide a world of fantasies in their minds. I'm willing to say we all have them and most all of us don't act on them. The game let's people act on them. I think that is the troubling thing."

--- There are different ways to read that. Your breakdown of "these three lines are undoubtedly true" is not the only, be all and end all, absolute one. Your view doesn't justify bullying seabeyond about responses to your personal interpretation -- even if you think it is OBVIOUSLY the ONLY logical one because you broke it down into components to use as blunt force instruments.

Have what? Fantasies? And in the context of the OP, rape fantasies?
The suggestion of the post (esp. if read too fast) is that a preponderance of people have rape fantasies.
Maybe that's true. Maybe some act them out by being bullies.

If someone's marketing the game they think that's a market shares-worth of people. "County worker didn't say the fantasies were troubling, CW said the "troubling thing" is "the game let's people act on them."

"I just think there are many here who are perpetually outraged and somehow need to direct that outrage at fellow DUers whenever possible."

It doesn't take "perpetual outrage" to read this OP -- even the title -- and become outraged enough, that people will market and buy videogames that subjugate, dehumanize and violate women in ever more unconscionable and indefensible ways.

Maybe less than "perpetual outrage" would be enough to cause one to read a bit too quickly and react to "sick fucks" in general...

... and someone "perpetually outraged" would not have quickly acknowledged that error and THANKED YOU for pointing it out and made peace with the poster.

Perhaps your perpetually bullying all down the subthread does more to contribute to outrage than your supercilious demands do to reduce it.

This is all just classic, too perfect, well done.

And I THANK YOU for this epic example of how it's done. Point by point, you started with the attitude and perpetuated the attitude -- your own and others -- that the best way to pretend that "there are many here who are perpetually outraged and somehow need to direct that outrage at fellow DUers whenever possible," is to:

ATTACK
BULLY
DEMEAN
DEMAND
DEFAME
OUTRAGE
CONTROL
DOMINATE
AND
SUBJUGATE OTHERS
TO YOUR DEMANDS FOR A CERTAIN LIMITED "CORRECT" RESPONSE TO YOUR SUBJECTIVE INTERPRETATION
WHICH IS
OF COURSE
ONLY. RIGHT. POINT. OF. VIEW.

OR ELSE.

Also there are no children in the GTA games. And GTA isn't sexually themed (though there are hookers and strippers, the gameplay is about building a crime empire).

Yet maybe there are contextual or subtle differences that only game play will allow one to see.

154. Look at it from this angle:
There's violent movies. I happen to like some of them. Others are crap. That thing out now where Liam Neeson chases down his daughters kidnappers? No interest whatsoever.

But Pulp Fiction and Goodfellas may be my two favorite movies ever made.

Now imagine a movie where the protagonist is a rapist. The guy you root for goes around raping women. Do you think that movie would do well? Do you think it would even be released?

Once we remove the themes from the realm of video games, does it help you to morally differentiate the degrees of hideousness?

i was thinking about the movie "generals daughter" the other day.

i think that was such a well made movie. very very good. a strong and emotional movie with a gut tearing plot.

it comes to the scene where she is reenacting the rape that she experienced that totally fucked up her life. huge drama. hard enough to watch (for most of us) anyway.

when she was tied and naked they switched it from the brutality of rape and sexualized the whole scene. they oiled her body, positioned her, had her moves, camera angle for it to become a turn on and sexual stimulation instead of the horrible, brutal, dirty reality of rape.

i still thought the movie was excellent, but they sexualized the rape for entertainment in that moment.

172. Well, let's look to the future: What game will make this new little wonder tame by comparison?
When is the line actually crossed?

And is it really protected "freedom of speech"?

Whatever else, it's incontrovertibly psychotic - the game. Not sure on the mental status of the folks programming it, but it might be for the best we do not know.

8. The good news is that this game will never be licensed for Wii, XBOX, or PS3
There's a long-standing agreement that video game console manufacturers will not allow a game designed for their system to be sold unless they approve it first. This started after Atari went after Swedish Erotica for its sexually graphic video games, especially Custer's Revenge.

Computers, however, are a different story. This game may be offensive and reprehensible to most DUers (hopefully all of us), but there's not much we can do except to sound the alarm.

That said, I'm gonna hang my head for a while...

You think we're repressed by comparison? Japanese society is probably the most rigid in the world, with no safety valves whatsoever, with a sky-high suicide rate, and with an ever-increasing proportion of shut-ins and social paranoiacs. How on earth can you say that a country that cannot legally show genitals, and that has near-Victorian attitudes towards social conduct, has a "much more open attitude about" sex?

Then there's the fact that I found several hits for it on IsoHunt, so the torrent community is going to "rape" the game's revenue stream.

It's a piece of shit game hoping to make a quick buck or two from sheer shock value. I'm predicting it will be pretty much forgotten by April. That is, unless the fundies make a big enough stink about it. Then I figure it will become one of the top torrent downloads of all time. Still won't sell for shit. :eyes:

What the hell is this bullshit? It is fucking sick and I am so disgusted by our society right now. But instead SOMEONE is trying to redirect our society into being sick sex and violence obsessed people, often combining the two and it is working. Are people really this sick and stupid?

i listen to men talk about females in general, as a whole, and there isnt that respect as a human any more. it wont behoove either genders.

77. No, we're, as a nation, more insidiously sexist.
The Japanese insult women quite blatantly while they offend. Their denigration is quite direct and out in the open. Americans and other Western cultures say "Oh, baby, you're so HOT" when we offend. We, as a group, act surprised if women get annoyed when they're treated as objects or commodities.

The result is the same--the women are objectified, but there's less overt....anger, and the process is, as a rule (to which, of course, there are exceptions) more subtle here. And of course, if you mention these truths, you're considered to be "unsporting" if you're male, or a "woman with a moustache" if you're female.

68. Amazon "UK" has apparently removed it--I suspect they didn't know what they were selling
The online encyclopedia, Wikipedia, says: "Due to Illusion's policy, its games are not intended to be sold or used outside of Japan, and official support is only given in Japanese and for use in Japan."

Despite this policy consumers, including those in the UK and Ireland, are now able to buy the game through the Amazon website.

A search of the site brings up nothing: http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_w_h_?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=rapelay

70. I started googling to better understand this game (RAPELAY)
Edited on Fri Feb-13-09 01:42 PM by aikoaiko
Here is a review. http://www.somethingawful.com/d/hentai-game-reviews/rapelay.php with links to pictures. Its really repugnant.

Of course, if its restricted to adults, I'm sure the 1st Amendment protects it.

Here is the end of the review:

There are only two endings to the game. The "thrown in front of the train" ending and the "Aoi stabs you" ending. Other than that it's rape forever for the three unlucky ladies, demonstrating once again that the only way the cycle of rape can end is if rapists are murdered.

Defining Moment: I wish I could say that the first instance of bloody cock or the rape that takes place on top of the child's enormous bed were the defining moments of the game. That would have been enough - more than enough - but, these are both things I have seen in Hentai games before. Pregnancy and abortion are new twists on this filthy genre, and they were disturbing, but they still don't quite win out. No, the winner on this one are the tears that glisten and move in the little girl's eyes. That sort of attention to detail wins this game a huge pile of disturbing points.

Difficulty: There are many lessons to be learned from RapeLay, about not wearing a skirt on a train in Japan or the need to equip your daughters with suicide pills, but the lesson foremost in this game is that rape is easy. You can wantonly grope women on a train without consequence and repeatedly rape their entire families without much fear. The only thing you can't do is not force them to get an abortion, because that's a sin in the eye's of god and leads to murder. He is the same god that answers the prayers of rapists standing on subway platforms.

Final Thoughts: RapeLay comes to us from Illusionsoft, which also makes the best Hentai games. I know, I know, oxymoron, but Sexy Beach 2 and 3 are actually kind of fun and innocent enough despite all of the hardcore sex. The fact that they also make one of the most disturbing and unpleasant Hentai games shouldn't really come as a surprise to me, but it does come as a disappointment. On the other hand, I would love to be a fly on the wall in Jack Thompson's office when someone anonymously mails him a copy of RapeLay. I have a feeling after about ten minutes he would either be having a coronary or he'd be masturbating furiously. Nah, he'd be doing both. And choking himself with his belt.

90. I believe it's called sexual repression.
Add a lot of guilt, a tendency toward hierarchial thinking into the mix and there you have it. The Japanese market seems to have exploded with hentai, which is cartoon sex, an acceptance for blow-up doll sex, the fascination for public, simulated self-sex and one wonders if anyone's having relations "the regular way."

Rape and objectification fantasies are not uncommon. Sex is a visceral, physical activity. That doesn't mean people are "bad." Often it means they feel guilty about their desires and those fantasies are an acceptable outlet. For those who envision themselves as the objectified. Margaret wrote an interesting story about it, entitled "Rape Fantasies." Not sure what the aggressor role means but probably guilt and self-esteem issues come into play.

135. I believe it's called "pushing the envelope"
"I believe it's called sexual repression."

I'm afraid I'm compelled to (respectfully) disagree. I believe it's called "pushing the envelope", people attempting to one-up, or to out do everyone else and be the first with the next "New Shocking Thing to Disturb Our Peers."

Let's face it, we (or at least I) hear people almost daily saying "I *like* to shock people". Although in the past that statement had mainly been confined to the youth (myself included during my heady and wilder days), it seems that more and more adults want to be in on the fun too.

Marketeers and "free-spirits" who willfully and consciously attempt to disturb convention for no other reason than to disturb convention, coming at us in the guise of art, music, film, and even conversation.

Not to open our eyes to a broader spectrum, nor to enlighten our spirits or lift our souls as is the compelling duty of art, but instead to merely to make money (the marketeers) and to distress and upset the culture (so-called free-spirits), all the while hiding behind the real nobility of actual free speech.

"I enjoy upsetting the status quo whilst taking no moral responsibility for the feelings of others", and variations on that theme have (I believe), resulted in this game.

Again, my disagreement is respectful and wholly my own opinion.

85. Here's a thought...
If Japan were to legalize porn, would this cut down on violent "hentai" games such as this?

Japan, in some ways, is very sexually repressed. By law, you cannot show any uncensored sexual penetration or oral-genital contact of any kind in print, on film, on electronic media, etc. - every single frame of it must be subjected to "mosaic-blurring" or it's considered highly illegal, and the cops will bust you royally for it.

A lot of porn producers in Japan responded to this law by getting, uh, "creative." In other words, really perverse.

...but as soon as they come in contact with someone or something, the Imperial Ministry of Mosaic Blurring steps in and censors the image.

Besides, I thought bukkake was invented by Americans, but given a Japanese name and a dubious background story so it'll sell better.

102. Japan Pledges To Halt Production Of Weirdo Porn That Makes People Puke
Japan Pledges To Halt Production Of Weirdo Porn That Makes People Puke

TOKYO—Acknowledging its embarrassment over worldwide outbreaks of violent, uncontrolled regurgitation, the Japanese government apologized Wednesday to the millions of viewers who have been sickened over the past three decades by the revolting depravity of the nation's pornographic exports.

The response came after leaders of the world's 20 largest economies signed an accord threatening sanctions against Japan if international distribution of the nauseating materials did not immediately cease.

The Japanese government has banned all 1,500 hours of film seized from this one-room studio in Kobe.
"We honestly had no idea people did not enjoy this stuff," said Cultural Affairs Minister Kazuhiro Nakai, expressing regret for the thousands of hours of bondage porn, rape porn, utensil-rape porn, food-rape porn, frozen-food-rape porn, vomit-enema porn, elder-care-coma-patient-rape porn, and the kind of a porn in which a nubile youth is kidnapped, stripped, tied down in a wading pool and raped.

"We are deeply ashamed for whatever it is about these films that has made people around the world vomit so vigorously. Please know that the content was only intended to entertain and arouse."
Sources inside the Ministry of Cultural Affairs said Nakai, shocked by the recent development, is seeking to recall many of the products, including an estimated 27 million copies of select bukkake (splash), gokkun (gulp), and tamakeri (testicle-kicking) videos.

Does this kind of thing actually serve some kind of benefit by allowing the freaks to release their depravity within the safety of a game, or does it make their fantasies stronger and instill a desire to make them real?

I pose this because there was a news story on those lifelike sex-dolls a while back and while I found those people incredibly creepy I thought it's a hell of a lot better than getting a mail order bride or some other living person.

My own thought to my first question is that it probably just makes their fantasies stronger and makes them more dangerous rather serving as a safety valve.

The envelopes of mores and morality continues to get pushed, the justifications will continue to get made, and the games, books and movies will continue to get marketed-- each and all defended vociferously by free markets, free speech, and open societies.

In ten years, this game will most likely be looked at as "quaint", "tame", or even "old-fashioned prudishness" at the rate of "evolving" we appear to be undergoing.

Just another piece of evidence that leads me to conclude that we in the industrialized world are long past the apex of our dignity, our honor, and our civility.

On edit: I imagine this is but one of the end results when enough individuals loudly and proudly say, "I *like* to shock people..."

Edited on Fri Feb-13-09 07:59 PM by dustbunnie
While that game shouldn't be for human consumption, rape and overpowering women seems to be a common fantasy theme in Japanese porn.

That being said not everyone wants sex in the form of "wonderful, good, blissful, natural" whatever the hell that means. Not everyone has intimate relations lying side to side, moving in a gentle rocking motion so as not to objectify or suppress the sensibilities of women. Some people like it passionate, sweaty, animal and very athletic. It's a good thing you aren't the morality police, as it would get awfully boring having it your way for a lot of people.

Edited on Fri Feb-13-09 08:14 PM by LanternWaste
I think Seabeyond's point is that we (as a culture) do not tolerate (for the most part) murder in any form-- we don't market it, we don't sell it, we don't perceive it as a spectator activity, we certainly don't enjoy it. (On edit-- maybe we do though-- many games and movies come to mind which indeed do glorify and justify murder for murder's sake...)

But sex on the other hand-- well, let's face it-- it's marketed, it's sold, it's bought, it's a spectator sport, we push the envelope as much as we can, we use it to sell shampoo, we use it as a final agenda in many, many instances. And that I think, is by its very definition far from natural.

And I certainly have never seen her judge what two consenting adults may or may not do in the confines of their own privacy... merely the forms and formats in which it is pushed on us by Madison Avenue.

142. Well I do beg to differ. We do market murder.

Ask any gamer what they enjoy playing. Do you know how much serial killer art goes for? How many fan clubs crop up every time one of them gets caught? How many marriage proposals they get? What movies become blockbuster hits? Mostly those that feature lots of car explosions (with people in them) along with every other form of torture and murder some writer can concoct. Violence themed tv shows like the Sopranos, Oz and Dexter are guaranteed to do well. Gangsta rap? Murder mystery books anyone? Lots of people worship violence and murder.

While it goes too far in many instances, I don't think it's far from natural to sell products with sex. Sex feels real good, people like it, people spend all day thinking about it in some cases. Especially men, according to some studies. Would the depiction of a brutal murder in front of a car help sell it? No, but since sex elicits good feelings it seems natural for those selling products to use it to their advantage.

Some of the posts here come very close to judgement calls about what fantasies people "should have" in order to be decent human beings, and that's just silly and repressive to me. Any society is healthier when people can indulge their desires, even if that includes role playing.

You're obviously not ashamed or humiliated as you've posted many, many times in this thread. 161. Rape and murder are both tied to morality.

Living is a natural, beautiful, wonderful thing. People cling to it to their last breath. Murdering someone takes that beautiful thing the individual enjoyed away. Ergo, murder is bad.

Sex is a natural, beautiful, wonderful thing. People do it whenever they can. Some with as many as they can. Raping someone takes that beautiful thing the individual enjoyed away. Ergo, rape is bad.

Both murder and sex are tied to morality.

That having been said, people have all sorts of cultural, gender and personal preferences when it comes to sex, which includes a lot of stuff you don't like. If you think the gentle, skinny dude walking down the street with three kids has never thought about himself in a leather jacket overpowering some random woman... well, at least some do when enjoying their alone time. Sorry, but it's true. Doesn't mean they would ever want to, in real life. Women also have fantasies about being overpowered, but would rather die than be raped in real life.

The game goes too far in allowing the repetitive interaction between the human and game being, which eventually inures people into accepting rape as "okay." Games that score points for the kill, do the same. These are still somewhat different from watching role-playing porn, or having fetish-y fantasies because of the interaction. The line is too far blurred.

165. The game is a fantasy-based one.

The Japanese are into that kind of thing, seemingly. It's an extension of their sexual thoughts.

The reason you think kill games are better than rape-themed ones is probably two-fold. The rape game only singles out a certain portion of the population whereas kill games, while they focus mostly on male/male violence, also include female characters. So it seems more "gender equality-based."

The other reason you're okay with kill-games is because of the society you live in, where violence and murder is often glorified and worshiped. Kids can get into a theater to watch the worst horror, torture, murder flicks, while seeing a woman breast feed her baby in the park incenses people, especially if their child might witness it. Btw, I think it was you who posted something about Japanese men groping women on the subway. That's been going on in NYC subways since the beginning of time itself.

166. no, you are wrong, on about all you assumed
no i did not post about the groping. yes i know it goes on everywhere. and why do men feel they have the right to do this?

no i am not ok with kill games, dont like them or play with them. yes i do see a difference. i have tried to explain it, but you dont agree that we are in a society that is actively and aggressively exploiting females so we will not agree on this point.

and you brought it to the argument i assumed you were making in the first place, that you ignored for the first handful of posts. the old kids can watch the worst horror torture murder flicks, (and i dont buy into that for kids either, we dont do it in my home) but breast feeding incenses people (generally the argument goes, better for kid to watch sex than watch violent films).

which is why i clarified that sex is good
murder is bad
and murder is a different learning experience for our children than adult sex. it is an easy concept to teach murder wrong. it is not a concept we teach, sex is bad. (not in my house anyway). so when adult sex is given to kid we are balancing natural age appropriate journey, thumbs up and adult sex world not appropriate.

i have often argued that back in the good ole days as a child we would run up on a woman breast feeding her child and there was not even a thought about it. was natural. what a woman did with the breast. it helped to allow us to keep a healthy perspective and respect of women and our body. now how dare we muddle the fantasy with the actual use of a breast.

so really, you dont have me figured out with your stereotypes you are working so hard to give me.

170. I do agree that women are exploited.
But there is an enormous distance between what happens in the workforce, or in day-to-day life, and the role-playing that goes on during sex. I feel attitudes such as yours do nothing more than throw everything feminism has achieved 30 years back in time. Politicizing sex is detrimental to both sexes. Please see your posts where you state Japanese society is sick and we're not far behind.

This is going to be long... I apologize.

As far as the game goes, it was meant for the Japanese market only. There's nothing much new to it. Hentai porn is filled with crying girls over powered by human males or huge octopus-like creatures. Japanese porn in general seems to embrace rape/over-powering as the central theme. There's been years and years of this stuff out there. There seems to be little impact on their rather repressive, socially-controlled society and actual rape stats are very low. This is a country that was once home to the geisha, also a submissive cartoon-like type of character.

I can see where the average Japanese office drone who works 12-hour days for some hierarchical-based company where he must constantly ass-kiss the few higher-ups, has little contact with women, is lonely, isolated, might feel empowered by fantasizing himself to be a stud, overpowering and subduing females in his wake, bending them to his will and eventually enticing them to engage with him willingly... might be a way of releasing pressure and stress. Even in the game, the end result (if you win) is happy orgies with all the women willingly participating. Again, men don't seem to go out and actually rape women, so as far as their society goes, there seems to be no harm in it.

Our own porn often focusses on women servicing men. Doh! It's mostly used by men for alone time pleasuring. Of COURSE it's going to be "all about me" material. Most women's masturbation fantasies ALSO focus on "all about me" themes. Gay porn is similar to hetero porn in that one party is often subjugated or depicted servicing the other. Ask any gay man if he thinks this exploits certain people in the community. He'll laugh his guts out at you. Pornography is meant to objectify. Has no bearing on what goes on in real life.

This whole idea that sex is supposed to be about love only, and that darker fantasies are base and animal, has been pounded into women for centuries. Women have felt guilty about their desires and repressed them accordingly. Finally we all have a chance to enjoy our sexuality, then the morality feminists come along and try to politicize sex. That only "equality-based" erotica is acceptable and people need to be trained to embrace politically correct sex only. What horseshit! The sexes are different starting from the fact that one is the penetrator, and one is the penetratee.

What about the macho construction worker or type A personality CEO who secretly wants to go home to Ilsa the She-Wolf of the dungeon and find release in a good old fashioned spanking. Is he "sick" too? Based on your posts, your answer would make you either a hypocrite, or intolerant of others.

I apologize for the graphic nature of my post, but this issue with regards to feminism and exploitation irks the hell out of me.

153. Ok....but murder games are still out there and nobody says squat
about those. I guess I'm just not getting the whole outrage over one form of violence vs another.

155. you dont see a difference between kill games and sexually exploitive material
subjugating, repressing, controlling, demeaning, degrading females is common and acceptable today in our culture and world.

murder is wrong.

people play the kill games knowing killing is wrong.

subjugating, repressing, controlling, demeaning, degrading females is ok.

156. But rape is wrong. People who rape know rape is wrong. I'm really
not trying to be argumentative here, I guess I didn't realize that subjugating, repressing, etc., was so widely accepted.

132. FYI: IT'S BEEN PULLED BY AMAZON: "Rapelay virtual rape game banned by Amazon"
Withdrawn from sale: Amazon.com has stopped selling RapeLay, in which players have to stalk and rape a family of women

In Rapelay, gamers direct a character to sexually assault a mother and her two young daughters at an underground station, before raping any of a selection female characters.

The game was intended for release just in Japan, but was on offer to British buyers through Amazon Marketplace, the section of the online store's website open to third-party sellers.

But Amazon has now withdrawn the game after complaints from users, deeming it to be inappropriate. "We determined that we did not want to be selling this particular item," a spokeswoman said.

Nobody is being raped in these games. Unless you believe that the AI in these games are so advanced they are sentient beings. :)

169. People with rape fantasies.
An old high school classmate was recently convicted for a handful of rapes, carried out in a manner similar to this game. He followed strangers to their homes, forced his way in, and raped them. Back in junior high and high school, he didn't seem like the type to become a serial rapist. For some reason, he developed into one, and finally got caught at age 36.

168. In fairness to Amazon
Not to defend the game or it's creators but Amazon were NOT selling the game. Having looked closely at the screenshot offered in the attached story, it was being sold 2nd hand through Amazon (in the same way as eBay).
