4. it's a petition to get starr's case thrown out.

the case is that they want to nullify those 18,000 marriages that took place before prop 8 passed.

that's bullshit.

it's never wrong for the public to denounce and cry out against unjust laws. your question doesn't apply here. they're not trying to change the law with this petition, they're trying to protect the rights of those who married legally before the bullshit prop 8 passed.

6. Starr's case may well be null and void.

At the very least, it should not be considered until the CA Supreme Court rules on Prop 8, which will occur within 90 days of March 5.

The attempt by Starr and Co. to push this through seems to me like adding insult to injury, knowing the likelihood of an overturning of Prop 8 by the Supremes, they are hoping to do as much damage as possible before they are defeated.

7. Of course you have a right to speak out. But do you want a judiciary which bases its rulings on

public opinions? We could just get rid of juries and decide the guild or innocence of the accused by whichever side gets the most text messages. Do we really want an American Idol justice system?

9. They are not when you are trying to influence legislators and the executive branch

The CA Courts were to follow what the people wanted, they would uphold Prop. 8, as it got a majority of the vote. But you (and I as well) are hoping they will follow the Constitution, rather what is popular.
