Pointing Bush logic back to Republicans
You can voluntarily pay more taxes right now. Hey you don't like the stimulus bill. Well don't take the money. Every Republican pulling your ear off on this thing. Just tell them to pay the money back. You don't have to take the tax cut. Bush told us liberals we can go ahead and pay more than we own in taxes already if we want higher taxes. The same goes for your side too. Don't want a stimulus package then don't accept it. Don't take one of the jobs it creates, don't take the state aid that it contains, don't eat the food bought on food stamps, go ahead and pay those extra taxes that just got cut. I mean it's the fiscally responsible thing to do, isn't it? That's what you've just spent 2 weeks crying to me about. The stimulus bill will suddenly become much cheaper once all the Republicans do the "right" thing and don't spend or accept the tax cuts and benefits the bill has. Morally it would seem to be the only right thing for them to do. Something tells me they'll hate this stimulus package all the way up to their 1040 form they have to fill out because they got a new stimulus job and then bite hard and accept the tax cut.

2. Not to be pedantic, but
Unemployment compensation is insurance, for which your employer pays premiums. It's no more welfare than filing a claim with Allstate when someone dents your car.
