This was something that was unconstitutional. It violated the fifth amendment because in order to obtain the tax or license you would have to have marijuana but having marijuana incriminated a person that didn't have the tax stamp.

19. I toured Herbert Hoover's library in Iowa last spring

according to what I learned there, Hoover went to his grave slamming the New Deal and feeling smug that he had outlived all the New Dealers. Sounds like a typical Republican to me.

And, I agree with you it's too bad this buy wasn't around in the 30s - my grandpa wouldn't wasted his time taking that PWA (yes, PWA not WPA) job and my uncle could have skipped his time in the CCC (of course then he wouldn't have been able to take what he learned there to run a very successful business).

I swear, my mom and her sisters are all going to have strokes if these clowns don't stop dissing FDR. Do they think no one is left who can remember the Depression?

He was always very proud of that chapter of his life, as are his children. It was a great opportunity and a big adventure for a young man, what with being sent to work on projects in Washington State, his first time outside his home state of Illinois.

The museum at Virginia's famous Skyline Drive (along the Shenendoah Valley) devotes a good bit of space to the CCC workers who helped build the roads, the pathways, and the beautiful little stone walls all along the roadway that keep tourists from falling down the mountains. All that was government spending that put people to work in dire times and left a legacy that has served a national treasure and its millions of visitor for generations... exactly what we need these days!

Social Security has worked just fine. Dishonest Leaders have
