Bush's 2001, $1.2 Trillion Tax Cut Stimulus Versus 2009 $800 Billion Stimulus

Here is a rare nugget of actual objective reporting comparing Bush's budget busting $1.2 trillion tax cut to the richest Americans for the 2001

From NBC's Mark Murray
With zero House Republicans voting for the stimulus -- and with just three Senate Republicans expected to vote for it later this afternoon -- it's worth noting that 28 House Democrats and 12 Senate Democrats voted for the final passage of Bush's big tax cut in 2001. (And remember, too, that Bush had barely won the presidential election the year before.)

The size of that 2001 tax-cut package? $1.35 trillion.

Oh, and to put the recessions into perspective, here is a comparison in the job loss numbers between the current recession, and the 1990 and 2001 recessions:

2. 2001 Recession, At Its Worst, Resulted In Loss of Million Jobs 2 Years Into It
Edited on Sat Feb-14-09 01:16 AM by Median Democrat
This recession has already resulted in over 3 million jobs loss just a year into the recession, and Republicans are bitching about $800 billion price tag, which includes tax cuts? Where were these Republicans who claim that the economy will recover anyways when Bush pushed a $1.2 trillion tax cut in response to a mild recession compared to the current financial crisis?
