Can anyone explain this?

The Mt. Ashland weather radar near the Oregon-California border is showing persistent and stationary radar returns north of Mt. Shasta that align with I-5 and Highway 97. Zoom in on this link and animate it.

1. My guess? It looks like the lake effect returns we get around here. I'm

speculating that the road follows a particular elevation between the mountain ridges, and it just happens that that's where the conditions are right for rain.

3. It's normal for lenticular clouds to form downwind of Mt. Shasta

What's weird is that the radar returns have been advancing noth and east along the two roadways. Caltrans has webcams at that location but they only update very four hours.

I think this may have something to do with vehicle emissions. The persistent return over the town of Weed could be pot smoke.
