Get rid of all gasoline taxes. Stop punishing the poor. The poor are the only ones that change their driving habits according to gas prices.

If it were free they would still have money problems, but lower gas prices would help them in their daily living. It is one of the taxes that has a direct affect on the poor. A car is an important necessity and luxury to poor people. Why punish them?

from the high price of the fuel itself to all the goods sitting in the stores, their prices reflect fuel costs. All the goods sitting in stores, a large portion of their price goes towards oil, for making the product, getting the product on the shelf...on and on..tax the fuel, tax the goods.

2. I've changed my habits and I don't think I'm poor

I bought a Prius in 2005 and have cut my gasoline consumption in half. Also, many poor people can't even afford to have a car. I do agree with the sentiment of your post, but I'm not sure the best way to accomplish it. Getting rid of gasoline taxes may not be the best solution, but I thank you for your compassion.

and I bet you did it more out of a sense of responsibility than necessity. You had the option to change your habits. Some people don't.

5. "All" gas taxes? I am poor and I have no problem with paying gas taxes, particularly state tax

here in WI because that's what goes to pay to maintain our highways here. When you drive on WI roads they look like they are maintained. I don't feel like I am punished at all by paying gasoline taxes.
