And I DON'T think you're crazy, just sensible. If Wyoming, Montana, and North Dakota can have two senators, why not the State of Columbia? But I'm afraid it will never happen.

IMHO the problem with the district is that so many of those without a voice in Congress are low income people. I sometimes wonder if it wouldn't be better to disaggregate large swaths of the district and annex them to VA and MD, leaving a core area that is essentially nonresidential and Federal.

Virginia re-absorbed the part of DC south of the Potomac. Why not give the northern part of DC to Maryland? Then they get representatives, senators, State Police, all that stuff

They would have to find another area that would provide two repuke senators. It's the only way a D.C. statehood bill would pass. Beyond that, I think there is some issue with gun laws that is holding it up as well.
