Remember my post about the ACE comb made in the USA about a month ago?

I went to get one for work today. Same rack. Same price. But the USA flag was missing on the front of the package. I looked through the full rack. The last one in back had OUR flag. The rest in front of it were made in China. The same price, but certainly made with cheaper (child or slave labor). I bought the last ACE comb I will probably ever have.

You might remember Walmart was the cause of Rubbermaid being sold and it's equipment being shipped to China. PBS said Walmart caused an American company to sell it's birthright.

And how they would tell an american company if they don't export their product to China that they would drop their brand and get one from China that made a similar product , this one was a sprinker manufacturer that was being forced.

I swear , people have to stop buying at these box stores and search out used stuff or do without it just to fight back and get them out.

Yeah , I know dream on . I have never been in a wal-fart store and never needed one there are places to go unless they are the only place left which i hear is the case now in many areas , then it's time to gather neighbors and van pool to the closest independant.

2. I think I copied that show onto a dvd years ago, but I do remember it.

A few years ago I worked in a food warehouse and I was amazed at the everyday, ordinary food items that were imported. There were big cans of pears and peaches from China. I never could figure out how they were making a profit shipping those big cans in the cheap cardboard boxes all the way from China (we do grow peaches and pears here, don't we?). Lots of cookies from Canada, beef from Argentina. Sometimes I wonder what ordinary things we make here anymore.

4. Good thing that I have a stockpile of these combs

A few years back I cut my hair short, and found myself in need of combs instead of the brush that I used. Went out and bought a pack of Ace combs, made in the US. I have one for the pocket, one for the bathroom, and multiples for future use. Given how rarely I go through combs or brushes, I think that I'm set for life.

I real shame though that more good US jobs are gone. That's part of the reason I think that this economic downturn is going to be long and severe, we don't have any manufacturing base to speak of, and when your economy goes to crap, you don't need people serving people so much anymore.

5. it's really getting quite difficult to find anything made in the USA anymore . . .

so much of our manufacturing base has been moved offshore (to pay less for labor and boost corporate profits) that it's almost impossible to find American-made products . . . tvs? nope . . . other electronics? nope . . . small appliances? nope . . . clothing? some, but mostly nope . . .

one of the great challenges in the years ahead will be rebuilding some kind of manufacturing base in this country . . . it may have to revolve around entirely new industries like alternative energy, energy conservation, and maybe even hemp-based products . . . meanwhile, even L.L.Bean -- which used to make all of their clothing domestically -- now imports virtually everything they sell . . .

6. at a coin show today someone had "hershey bucks"

they were surprised to hear that Hersheys' chocolate bars are now made in Mexico and the only thing left in America are those Kiss shaped light fixtures and Hershey Park.

7. i had a box of vintage combs my grandma hoarded

but i think purple heart got the box. ebay didn't want them.

8. I had the same experience with Kong pet toys

I ordered some off Amazon that stated Made in USA, but they turned out to be made in China.
I returned them for a refund.

Now I order my pet toys from Dr. Daniels- Webster, MA. They label the ones made in the US.
