The more they do that, the more marginalized they become.

They are in a downward death spiral as a party.

2. Without a doubt.
The problem for the Limbaugh's of the world is that truth has a liberal bias.

Its hard to convince people of conservative economic values , as defined by these crazies, when those same values have destroyed the economy.

4. However, if you ask Rush; he's not out to personally shape the politics of Washington or America...
He's just a commentator on what he sees.

6. politically it is
It's not so great when it comes back and impacts policy. Obama and Congressional Dems are intent on working with the Republicans, but when the ideological gulf is so huge and Dems start watering down good legislation to get a few votes, it's definitely a bad thing. You cannot properly work with a radicalized party with fringe ideas, they're too rigid.

8. As a liberal Democrat, I fear for future of the Republican Party.
If they don't change with the times, Republicans will disappear. The name will probably continue - just as it has after the death (or murder) of "the Party of Lincoln" and after the deliberate marginalization of Eisenhower Republicans - but the spirit will have been broken. Out of the ashes will come secessionists like Todd Palin, unabashed fascists like Limbaugh, libertarian fantasists like Ron Paul, theocratic authoritarians, xenophobes & isolationists.

The Republican coalition built up over 70 yrs in response to the success of the New Deal has been shattered once and for all by the absolute & total failure of George W Bush.

Unfortunately we have a two-party system, and one of the prerequisites for it to function is to have two parties - not one party vs. a dozen.

9. How appropriate. A drug-addled, ex-felon and pedophile. All in one rotund package.

Their de facto leader has been created in their own image.
