If line workers' pay gets cut, there should be corresponding (sliding-scale type) cuts across the board, including executive compensation.

I'd add some requirements that the company do more to protect and create jobs in the U.S. If they take our money and build plants in China, that might help GM, but how does it help us?

Anyway, yes, there should be conditions on ALL the money, including the money for financial institutions.

8. Maybe the government should take over the pensioners healthcare

and open the plan up to us poor suckers who are circling the drain not being able to afford insurance. As for GM as a whole, I read they spent some of the last stimulus money in Brazil. That doesn't sit well with me and there needs to be a "spend in the USA" provision.

Everyone complains that the US auto companies aren't running their business well but then also complains when they do things like build plants in other countries. Most companies have shipped manufacturing to other countries...the US auto companies are really part of the little manufacturing done in this country. It's cheaper for companies to build products in low wage countries and then ship things back here. In a way, GM building plants in foreign countries is, based on our trade policies, exactly what we want. I do agree, we should make sure the money given to US auto companies benefits our country but that involves more than telling them to hire US workers.
