Ian Masters' show (KPFK) and Ricks continues to steer away from saying that Cheney et al. lied about weapons of mass destruction, etc. Ian Masters stated that they lied and Ricks' response was "I don't want to do a Clintonian type of parsing on what lied means - I think Cheney really believed the evidence, etc." (I'm paraphrasing). It's FUCKING UNBELIEVABLE. Why is somebody like Ricks afraid to say the word "LIED" and "ILLEGAL"!!!!! IT MAKES ME CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been following almost everything Ricks has been saying recently because 1) it shows just how the war was waged initially (no strategy, no security, no respect for iraqis) and just how callous Bush was about his approach to the war, and the absolutely two faced way he portrayed it to Americans.

Yes he lied, but what is even more amazing is that THE SURGE DIDNT WORK. That's inescapable in this book, but it was the foundation of the Republican presidential campaign last year....all that crap about leaving before victory, blah blah blah...jeesus its amazing how much b.s. people can get away with if a camera is in front of them...

listening to the rest of ian masters show now...its one of the two shows i have to listen to (other being Lewis Laphams's show on Bloomberg)
