Palin's PEOPLE magazine biography (yes already) her pregnancy was kept secret from family
Edited on Mon Feb-16-09 08:11 AM by underpants

A new biography of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin reveals that her secret pregnancy with son Trig was nearly uncovered when one of her daughters discovered Trig's prenatal ultrasound scan and confronted Palin with the picture.

"Sarah made one slip-up – but dampened suspicion by explaining it away," reports Trailblazer: An Intimate Biography of Sarah Palin, by PEOPLE Assistant Editor Lorenzo Benet and being published Tuesday by Simon & Schuster's Threshold Editions.

Palin also was aware Trig had been diagnosed with Down syndrome but did not disclose this to her four other children until his Trig's birth last April 18, several weeks after she went public with her pregnancy.

Trailblazer also reveals another reason Palin kept the pregnancy quiet. She tells Benet, who interviewed Palin and her family for a 2008 PEOPLE cover story: "Not knowing in my own heart if I was going to be ready to embrace a child with special needs – I couldn't talk about it."

In the course of preparing the book, Benet received the cooperation of Palin's parents, Chuck and Sally Heath; the governor's older sister, Heather Bruce; as well as in-laws, political allies and rivals.

Toss it in a dumpster? We all know that life only has value for the fundies, until it is actually born.

5. i dont know "mother of the year" or more, lying to your children? not being able to embraces a baby
special needs or otherwise.

it is all about her. always all about her.

she doesnt have a concept what a mother is

like not going ot hospital at 4 am because in texas as opposed to 11:30 at night in alaska.

27. Many people give up or abort downs babies because they know themselves well enough
to know that they cannot be the parent that child will need.

I do not fault them. Of the many things to find fault with Palin about, needing some time to adjust to the difficult reality of a child with downs is NOT one of them.

30. hiding it and lying to her children is not something i would ever do.
and leaking water at 4 am, staying for a luncheon then getting on a plane without any medical attention, for hours, then driving to her small town is totally unconscionable.

this woman has spent her time advocating harshly no one being able to have any options. ergo, her only option was to have the baby, regardless if she was equipped for it or not. if she actually needed the time for consideration, then ALL of her testimony that there is only one way should have been revised. or else she is no more than a hypocrite. she is not other people, she is the one that wishes to dictate to all the other people

15. I guess it could happen
The most common congenital heart defect is Atrioventricular (AV) septal defect. This problem occurs when the valves separating the atrium (upper chamber of the heart) from the ventricle (lower chamber of the heart) leak allowing blood to flow in the wrong direction. This problem is quite serious but can corrected with surgery in infancy. The second most common problem is a hole in the wall of either the ventricles (Ventricular Septal Defect or VSD) or between the atrium (Atrial Septal Defect or ASD). Small holes do not cause any strain on the baby and often close by themselves. Larger holes may require surgery.

10. What a liar
She is a poor excuse of a mother. She puts her job before her children. No wonder Bristol got PG. She was already mothering the younger children. She is just like the Duggar family, and the Octmom. Disgraceful. Why do the media put light on these losers.

17. Trail Blazer, heading backwards at the speed of light
retreading old ground, taking women back to the time before they were free from being considered chattel.

She's a Trail Blazer alright.

As for her parenting skills, I'm aghast by her and her obfuscation re her pregnancy, and at the same time, it all seems so ridiculous. Why is she constantly making everything about being a mother instead of focusing on her job? Maybe because she's not very good at her job, and it really makes us look bad if we take a shot at a workin' mom? Yeah, I think it's a big shield and pretty much all she's got to run on.

Trail blazer. Snort.

through not eating enough.

Palin is a narcissist. Working on her career. She didn't want that baby. A

24. It's clear...
"Not knowing in my own heart if I was going to be ready to embrace a child with special needs – I couldn't talk about it."

I finally, now, understand why she took so many risks during that pregnancy....why she went ahead with her speech after her water broke...why she flew all the way back to Alaska to give birth...

It's all perfectly clear.

25. Nice to know that she felt her situation was more important
than anyone else on that flight, etcetera.

Imagine the fun if there was some type of emergency in-flight which required the plane to divert. Of course, that didn't matter to her, did it? I'd also like to know how she got on flights anyway when she was (supposedly) visibly pregnant. Isn't there a restriction on flying at seven months in the first place?

I don't buy a word that comes out of this woman's mouth.

26. Traditional American family values
So this is the "traditional American" set of family values that Palin has been promoting all this time:

- Mom goes to 5 colleges in 6 years to get her degree.
- Mom elopes (while pregnant?).
- Mom has a quasi-affair with her husband's business partner.
- Mom lies to her family about her latest pregnancy.
- Eldest son has run-in with the law. Moves to Michigan for a year. Joins the Army.
- Unwed teenage daughter gets knocked up, drops out of school, moves out of the house.
- Other daughters are pulled out of school for several months to (unsuccessfully) help mom get elected.
- Future son-in-law drops out of school, acquires an internship without meeting the eligibility requirements.
- Daughter's future mother-in-law get busted for dealing drugs.

Anything else?
