Bill Press is so much smarter than Ed Schultz
Bill Press = a college prof.

Ed Schultz = a car salesman

Schultz did not listen to the answers about getting "fairness" back on
the public airwaves ..... he asked and was given the same answer 3 times
from Press but Ed would not or could not process the information.

1. Ed spends too much time forming his reason why the caller is wrong.
Face to face, he'll usually let a person speak their piece and not argue, but I don't think he ever truly "listens" to what a person is trying to get across.

He isn't a dummy, but he needs to be more polite and not cut people off when he doesn't agree with them. He also blows his own horn too much.

Other than that, I kind of enjoy listening to him.

3. It's a big tent - I think that they each have different slices of the left audience -
and Ed's blustery Rush like voice could actually draw in some less than neanderthal dittoheads.

7. Exactly. I'm not really a fan of either, but I'm sure glad they're out there rather than more...
conservatives.

I'm especially glad that Ed is out there because I think he can help bring in moderate Republicans and centrists who enjoy fishin', huntin and Nascarin' (etc.). I'm not one of them, but I recognize the value in it.

9. I like fishin' and huntin'
Don't care one way or the other about Nascar, and I am a Democrat. This stereotyping must stop. I like Schultz and I also like Stephanie Miller, although her schtick can get old after a while. Ed Schultz is the best friend progressive radio has as he actually understands the business and realizes that his show must make money to stay on the air.

13. You know that was tongue in cheek, right?

:)

I considered pointing that out in my original comment but decided not to. At any rate, my point still stands: Schultz generally appeals to moderate R's, D's and centrists (as always there are exceptions that prove the rule).

There's nothing wrong with that, and again, I'm glad he's out there appealing to that audience.

4. Ed's pretty sharp
He just has an agenda.

He's wrong on this issue, we need fairness in a very big way. No matter what it is called. The airwaves are for everyone, not just Rush-bots.

6. Happened with a caller earlier in the program
The caller proposed we curtail legal immigration for a while since a large percentage of legal immigrants find work within a short period of time. He hoped that Americans would take those jobs thus reducing unemployment.

Ed kept asking how we were going to deport all the people who already immigrated, found jobs and became citizens. The guy tried to explain it several times but it never sunk in.

8. Ed got money from the ethanol people .....
.... when I sent him and tried to talk about the real costs
of ethanol no way I got on (i.e. the U.S. Catfish industry went
belly up thanx to ethanol) .... I enjoy a lot of Ed but he is all
about Ed and peddles more than a little reptilian lubricant.

Ed is about the money.

10. Thom Hartmann is smarter than both of them put together.
That said, I like Ed Schultz & Bill Press too. Schultz is way too quick to end calls from interesting people, but he's still OK.

11. Too often, Ed is about what Ed thinks
But, I agree with a poster above, that I'd rather have Ed than another right-wing lock-stepper.

12. Shultz is kind of a blockhead.
I really admire his passionate support of unions, but he's so dense sometimes...

15. Funny though....Ed is right more often than Bill Press is.
Press is a "New Dem" whore.

Ed gropes his way through what he
doesn't know and usually comes out
moving in the right direction.
