CT woman attacked by a pet Orang.

Sorry no link. I just heard this bizarre bulletin on local news. A 55 yr old woman in Conn. was attacked by a pet Orangutan. She was visiting owner of the ape. The animal has been killed.

1. Why do people keep wild animals as pets? I don't get it.

I know some small monkeys have been used as assists for people with serious disabilities, but why would someone want to keep as a pet a primate as big and as strong as they are?

6. Police now saying it was a 200 lb chimpanzee.

In a previous incident the animal, named Travis, had escaped in 2003 causing some disturbance in Stamford community.

The news story suggests it was a chimp...

Adult Orangutan males are definitely not pet material... Tragedy all the way around because of stupid human who wanted an exotic "pet." :mad:

On edit, the updated story indicates a 200 pound male chimp--still extremely large for a chimp....
