2. thirty trillion is not right

unless people are playing the "real deficit" game and adding in current obligations to baby boomers. The numbers I got from SAUS were "National debt went from $5.6 trillion in 2000 to almost $9 trillion in 2007,"

Actually $5,628.7 to $8,950.7.

Of course Bush started in 2001, but since the 2000 budget was balanced that probably gives him some credit. I don't have the number for 2008.

4. I worked it out at closer to 4.5 Trillion

Over the 8 years bush was in charge, he borrowed 450 billion a year on average for the budget. But in the last few months of his presidency, he borrowed closer to another Trillion for the Tarp and the old stimulus plan.
