25. Who is "we" Kimosabe? The Republicans wouldn't know bipartisanship

if it bit them in their butts. When was the last time George W. Bush had a delegation of Democratic legislators at the White House to negotiate terms of a bill? There were several things in the bill (like family planning funding) that the Republicans didn't like, and they were removed. There were other things not in the bill that the Republicans wanted included (like deeper tax-cuts and mortgage credits) and Obama agreed to include them. Still, after getting those things, not one Representative and only 3 Senators from the Republican party voted in favor of the bill. It shows nothing less than the fact that Republicans don't negotiate in good faith. It shows that they are less concerned about the country than they are about party.

The Republicans confuse negotiation and compromise with capitulation. They don't call anything "bipartisan" unless they get everything they want. That's not how it works. And, for all his whining about the lack of bipartisanship, if John McCain wants to see where the problem lies, he needs to look no further than the mirror and the Republican caucus.

Oh, and BTW, when someone comes on this board and uses the noun "Democrat" in place of the adjective "Democratic," and refers to the "Democratic Party" as the "Democrat Party," (as you did), we all automatically assume that the poster is...well, let's say that he/she/it is not a Democrat.

24. The Corporate Media Still Loves Them Bar-B-Ques...

The John King interview on Sunday was a joke. It wasn't just softballs, but King looked like he was in awe of a man who had been totally repudiated by the electorate. You sure wouldn't have seen him genuflecting at John Kerry or Al Gore in such a fashion. It was a joke. That was one of my rare glimpses at Chicken Noodle Nuze these days and just reinforced my belief they long gave up any semblence of credibility to pander to corporate interests and "conventional wisdom"...totally detached from where the rest of the country is.

If there's one thing all Senators hold in common is a huge ego. They didn't get as far as they did without one. Most can't resist a camera and fawning reporter. They all but begged Gramps to spew this crap so they could create some kind of drama or controversy...keep you tuned in. This game has never worked for them as their ratings continue to erode along with what remains of their tattered credibility.
