1 American dollar = 1465 Korean Won. When I got here in July, it was 1100 to 1.

So much for saving money in Korea. Thailand here I come in July!

2. Not running. . .traveling the world and working. The KRW is dead now! And the Yuan and Yen are
next.

Hopefully, the Baht will not tank. Or the Filipino Peso if I move to Manila with my Filipina GF I met here.

The Yen is still fairly strong

18. It's Lee Myeong-bak
Some of us call him Lee Myeong-bush as a form of derision because his policies are so George Bush-like

7. My main currency is the yen
Edited on Tue Feb-17-09 04:05 AM by Art_from_Ark
And right now, the yen is high against all major currencies.

Even if you can't read Japanese, the graphs in the middle of the page show how 6 major currencies have fared against the yen over the past year-- all of them are down.

http://quote.yahoo.co.jp/m3?u

From left to right and top to bottom:

US dollar, Australian dollar, UK pound
Canadian dollar, Swiss franc, Euro

The numbers on the left-hand side of each graph denote value in Japanese yen.
The numbers at the bottom of each graph represent the months of the past year.

Holding steady at about 5.5 kuna to the dollar here in Croatia.

12. British pound is currently at $1.42, the dollar goes quite a bit further than it did.
Sterling is supposedly at near purchasing-power parity now, from being somewhat overvalued; I don't expect it'll go much higher and may go lower, depending on what happens with government intervention in the banking sector here.

It's supposed to get worse. We plan on withdrawing a lot of money and exchanging it for Won soon. That way we are paying our rent really cheap.

17. A strong currency is undesirable in an export based economy.
Ask the Japanese how thrilled they are that the yen is "holding up" against the dollar.
