They all use the same talking points - not just the ideas, but the actual words. There's no independent thought. They don't question what they hear or what they've been told.
The mixture of God and patriotism bothered me. As far as they're concerned, you can't possibly love your country if you don't love their God. I have no doubt that many of them would love to use Taliban-style tactics to force all of us into their religion. They don't seem to understand the difference between democracy and theocracy. They think "freedom of religion" means the entire country is free to be Christian ... and nothing else.
The USA chants and the way they "worship" the American flag was a bit creepy. I didn't feel like I was witnessing a display of heartfelt patriotism; it was more like blind allegiance. It was nationalism.
Those who complained about the state of the economy, the direction of the country and/or the way "you can't do anything anymore" amused the hell out of me. Do they not realize that the GOP has been running the country for the last eight years?
Things that made me laugh ...
The guy who misspelled "socialism" on his T-shirt ... and then had a hard time explaining what it was.
The guy who thinks Obama is a socialist, but then got angry and teary-eyed when he said, "You ask the government for help and they say, 'Fuck you'".
The responses to the lady in the soup kitchen.
The woman in the audience at a McCain rally who was dressed like Palin (and carrying a baby doll).
The African-American man who seemed to be defending Mississippi racism! (That was a total WTF moment for me, LOL!)
