Poll question: How many chimpanzee-as-pets behavioral experts are also DU members?
I'm sure we'll find out by the time a day or three has passed ... but for now, how many do you think?

5. I'd tell ya, but first I'd have to un"hide" a lot of threads.
I won't do that. Not even for you Solly.

LOL

12. LOL! It's my own damn fault. I was away from the computer
and missed the great chimp verses DU escapade (usually a Bush reference)

but this time it's really about actual chimps (or so I gather)

:hi:

6. No wonder I never stopped in Stamford!!
Actually, I was there once, to see UBS's new headquarters across from the train station.

11. I agree, valerief, I believe for the most part
Democrats spring more from the make love not war, Bonobo side of the evolutionary family tree, whereas Republicans spring more from the violent loving, cannibalistic Chimpanzee branch.

14. Yeah, and male chimpanzees are known to snatch young chimps and
beat them to death. That sounds like the last administration.

15. Yep, the only difference being they
sent them off to a war based on lies, with inadequate armor while their military industrial complex cronies made mega bucks.

8. I think it's more "common sense" than expertise that inform's one that keeping a chimp as a pet
is mean and stupid.

16. Emphasis on "STUPID".
I mentioned last night during the news that keeping a chimp, at home, was about as smart as choosing a tiger over a domestic cat as a pet. Those things are strong as hell and at 200#s??? Holy flinging poo, Batman!!!

My experience is that people who try to humanize animal behavior are, almost always, severely disappointed - especially when they choose larger animals. There's a reason it took tens of thousands of years to domesticate dogs and cats.

9. I remember when DU had that "Chimpanzee As Pets" expertise test
that you had to pass before you could join.

The good ole days. This place is just going to hell now, what with our non-chimpanzee-as-pets expert members.

13. Considering how many DUers are experts at throwing shit at each other...
on a daily basis, myself included, I would say a whole bunch are experts on chimpanzee behavior. :D
