I wish that the president and members of Congress would talk about getting people back to work in 20 years instead of next month. We have got to lower expectations for all of this. Jobs, housing, banks all need to be talked about in terms of decades or we could lose one or both houses of Congress in 2010. It's too easy for republicans to claim things aren't working regardless of if they are or not working.

Even if talking down the success of the plans slows them or the market down that's better than giving up either the house or senate.

1. Maybe the whole Mayan Calendar thing is true...
And we won't have to worry about a thing in 2012.

7. Yeah, I know.
But so is coming out of this looming depression any time soon, it seems.

3. Generations.
We need to talk in terms of generations.

"Our kids," "our grandkids," their kids, etc.

10. THEY will be free down at the pill pantry or the pill bank.
My favorite will be the broccoli flavored.

5. We need to work on the future, aka "moving forward", and stop whining about it.
And we need to remind people of how things got so bad in the first place. President Obama, in his first nationwide address, did a good job about their revisionist history.

6. Setting the bar that low would only serve to antagonize the public
And seriously, if market forces require 20 years to recover, then we might as well call up GOSPLAN and tell them we'll be needing to order a few 5 year plans.

9. rethugs and their greedy supporters got US in this mess.
I think most people know that our recovery will take several decades. Reelecting ANY rethugs would be the final nail in the coffin of the USA.

11. We also need to frame the cause of this economic clusterfuck in decades and not years.
Specifically the last three of them.

It's not 8 years, it's 28. And until we acknowledge that, and not only undo the Chimp damage, but also the Clinton damage (save the DLC bullshit justifications, you know its true), the Poppy damage, and the Reagan damage, we will never truly restore this country.

13. Kicking because I have seen people saying it will work in 3 months or by the end of the year.

This is a 50 year recovery plan.
