For Lou Dobbs, the health of the Economy has two measures and two measures only

1. What the DOW is doing at any given moment; when Wall Street is raking it in, who gives a fuck about the serfs?

2. How many brown people are in the country, particularly (but by no means limited to) the percentage of those that are here illegally.


All else is window-dressing to good ol' Lou. Since Obama's stimulus bill isn't 100% perfect from start to finish, and since the DOW didn't miraculously jump to 15000 today on news of its passage, Lou has all but declared it a complete failure, and his indignant frothing is so unrestrained that they shot tonight's show with a waterproof lens.

Before anyone labels me as racist, my first personal piss-off regarding immigration was about a lily-white Canadian I knew who was violating immigration laws.

I don't care where you're from, I just ask that you come here legally and respect our culture by learning the language.

11. Hey, once your family makes the transition from immigrant to "native", it is your role

to disparage those immigrants who want to come next. ;) Once you have got yours (at least compared to what those in many countries have), your job becomes to keeping others from getting some of it, too.

Everyone immigrated to the Americas (aside from those brought here forcibly) looking for a better life. (Even the "native Americans" immigrated here from Asia thousands of years ago looking, I assume, for a better life, not a worse one.) While it may take a generation or two for a family to change its self-perception from immigrant to native, once that is accomplished it is apparently easy for many to then want to keep future immigrants from coming here for the same reasons their ancestors did.

10. Lou spends more time attacking illegal immigrants than the companies that employ them

Sure, he shakes his finger at companies that employ undocumented workers, but that's nothing like the condemnation he heaps upon the individual people working for $15 a day.

His outrage has been skewed and disproportionate on this issue for years. And although I'm sure that a number of Canadians are here illegally, Lou has never called for a sky-high fence along the border of Montana.

9. Lou Doobies...Total Sell-Out

I remember Lou's Financial Network in the 90's...there wasn't an IPO or "financial planner" who wasn't tauting the latest and hotest tip. While business was booming on his beloved Wall Street, Lou was their guardian...extreme capitalism was good and whatever that was good for his beloved Street was good for the rest of us. He rode the dot com boom...and then bailed on the bust. He was angry that his beloved Street had been abused...and he was going to "keep them honest". Well sorta.

His Financial network fell apart and he needed a new gimmick to gain back his image. Thus "Lou the Populist" was born. Lou Doobies was going to become a real life Howard Beale. It started with going after those who hurt his beloved Street...such as Enron and then into anyone and anything that would hurt them. Illegal immigrants became a nice target cause the cheap labor coming over the border was hurting many of his beloved Street buddies and also it was teevee gold. The more Howard Beale he got the higher the ratings.

Today, Lou's a miserable old man without a party or a clue, but he doesn't need one. He's found his own little Private Idaho where his rants are gospel and everyone else is either stupid or corrupt.

If Lou wants to see those markets jump up fast, just let President Obama nationalize the failing banks...get them solvent again. But ya wanna bet if this happens, Lou blows several circuits...socialism, I tell ya!!!! It's what Howard Beale would do.
