But don't take the cashier's word for it. The Gazette received an e-mail from a man who identified himself as a Marine Corps veteran. It said (profanity redacted by Gazette): "first of all he's not qualified to be president,,alien,,,kenya you get the picture second of all: he's a useless pile of c-p... elected by the scum of our society."
Asked by e-mail if he cared to elaborate, the man wrote: "I don't think any further amplification is necessary,,the useless ni-er is destroying the economy,,,a day at a time,,, and ignorant a-wipes like yourself are either in accord with him or you just don't give a good husky c-p... either way you're f---ed,,,the end is upon us,,,6 mths to a yr, and the end will be starring us in the face,,,actually, I mean you,,,I'm getting the f-k out,,,with lots of $$, so s-k d-k and suffer,,,just do it quietly,,have some pride,,,if nothing else..."
Wow. This could make a fantastic soliloquy for some angry racist character played by Jack Nicholson in a movie.
Obama's first month in office has been troubling, to say the least. But he was elected president of the United States, like it or not, and that warrants respect. The sign should have been left alone. His photo should always be welcome on federal property. Its removal was an insult - brought to us by the Defense Commissary Agency - to the commander in chief of the United States armed forces. Even worse, it was a gift to the ignoramus who wrote that e-mail, and all his idiotic cohorts.
