Surprise, surprise!!!!! NY Post Defends Cartoon, Slams Al Sharpton
:sarcasm:

The New York Post has issued a statement defending its stimulus/chimp cartoon and slamming Rev. Al Sharpton for protesting the piece.

Here's the full statement by Col Allan, editor-in-chief of the Post:

"The cartoon is a clear parody of a current news event, to wit the shooting of a violent chimpanzee in Connecticut. It broadly mocks Washington's efforts to revive the economy. Again, Al Sharpton reveals himself as nothing more than a publicity opportunist."

5. I'm wondering if this isn't part of a gop strategy
Remember during the election when certain candidates kept baiting Obama with divisive racial stuff, and in some cases overtly bigoted crap? What they were doing was trying to get Obama to speak about racism in order to scare the white folks into thinking that he was only going to be a president for black folks. Since the election Axelrod has spoken about how they had to walk that tight-rope and not allow Obama's campaign to become about race.

This racist cartoon and the conversation surrounding it in the media is reminding me of the crap slung at Obama during the campaign. I could be completely wrong, maybe this was just the act of one idiotic racist with an equally despicable editor. I guess I'll have to see if a pattern begins to develop.

6. That cartoon is all around offensive.

And definitely not funny. It's obvious President Obama was the target, but even if he wasn't, who in the fuck thinks cops killing a monkey, blood spatter and all is funny? I sure as fuck don't. Jesus Christ, what a colossal piece of shit. I wish I'd never seen it.
