Pope tells Nancy Pelosi life must be protected

Pope tells Nancy Pelosi life must be protected

VATICAN CITY – Pope Benedict XVI received Nancy Pelosi, one of the most prominent abortion rights politicians in America, and told her Wednesday that Catholic politicians have a duty to protect life "at all stages of its development." The U.S. House speaker, a Catholic, was the first top Democrat to meet with Benedict since the election of Barack Obama, who won a majority of the U.S. Catholic vote despite differences with the Vatican on abortion.

On his fourth day in office last month, Obama ended a ban on funds for international groups that perform abortions or provide information on the option — a sharp policy change from former President George W. Bush's Republican administration.

The Vatican's attempts to keep the Pelosi visit low-profile displayed its obvious unease with the new U.S. administration. Benedict and Bush had found common ground in opposing abortion, an issue that drew them together despite their differences over the war in Iraq.

Wednesday's meeting, in a small room off a Vatican auditorium after the pope's weekly public audience, was closed to reporters and photographers.

3. The Pope is a Poop.
I liked JP. He wasn't too terribly offensive, but I'll be damned if I'm going to respect what a Nazi sympathizer has to say.

15. You know, the Vatican has an art collection that is so extensive and so valuable that
its dollar value is considered to be beyond calculation. If they auction all that off, and then use the money to feed and house the poor, then maybe I'll consider even listening to them. Till then, they can shut the fuck up as far as I'm concerned.

20. Wow....I did not know that. How do they justify sitting on all that wealth
with all the starving/sick people around the world. I would think Jesus would be appalled.

will turn out gay I bet the Pope would do a complete turn around on abortion!

6. Popey told Bush he didn't like the Iraq Invasion.
The media didn't really focus on that too much however. This, however, will be BIG! IMPORTANT! NEWS!, in a country with separation of Church and State.

14. Maybe when he starts wearing simpler clothes, forgets the stupid
lace and hoity-toity vestments, stop protecting the molestors, rapists, and other nazis and their sympathizers, feed the poor without begging them to get pregnant, then I'll give half a rat's ass about his comments.

17. A case could be made that the Pontiff should seek advice and
counsel from Nancy Pelosi.

The world is growing different and more challenging than the world in which the role of 'Vicar of Christ' was perceived. The Pontiff is still using that original model, more or less.

Pelosi, as our first female Speaker of the House, is in a more influential position to evaluate that new world and respond to the global crises we're likely to face.

18. Ah, I always thought it was funny when I worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield...
...that the Catholic Diocese in our city gave us their business even though other companies we gave policies to offered abortions in their plans. Wouldn't that mean they were actually supporting abortions?
