Dennis Miller's 4th attempt at a show already flopping?
Dennis Miller's New Radio Show: Underwhelming Station Lineup?
According to talkingradio.blogspot.com: "After a failed TV talk show and equally unsuccessful attempt to be a color commentator on Monday Night Football, Dennis Miller, will try to resurrect his faltering career, once again, on Monday with a syndicated talk radio show that will reportedly debut on 80 stations.

We say 'reportedly,' because Westwood One, which is syndicating Miller’s talk show, has only identified 11 of the stations that will be carrying the show." More of this post.

----
Great lineup for first show. Fellow washed-up SNLer Carvey, and a lovefest with seriel adulter/cousin-marrier Rudy, and nutjob Horowitz to shreik out the first day's procedings

Guests on his first show include: Republican Presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani, comedian Dana Carvey, and conservative writer David Horowitz.

Miller's website is running a series of promotional slogans about the show including:
"When he talks, it really smarts"
"I rant, therefore I am." - The King of Rants
"Part Libertarian, Part Objectivist, Part Conservative."

1. One day he'll get a game show on Fox (like Howie Mandell, though his is on NBC)
and probably shave his head.

Miller's CAREER should sue him for defamation of character.

that if right wing financiers want you to "catapult the propaganda", you are guaranteed to have a job that allows you to do so.

9. How did Dana Carvey get
into that line up?

Miller's show are bad because humor and anger don't go well together.

13. Carvey's a rightwinger
Always has been. Caught a minute of his prerformance on Leno recently. He was recycling old routines from his HBO special verbatim for Dennis. Still doing Perot, Carson and Bush Sr. bits. Despite the fact that all emn have been retired from public life (and one is dead) for over a decade.
The man seriously needs some new material. He's becoming the Rich Little of his generation (and that's not a goofd thing)

15. I had no idea he was a Republican
I thought he had dropped out of the limelight because of his heart.

But he sure was funny...the Church Lady, Wayne's World. I liked him on SNL.

20. I'm pretty sure he did drop out because of his heart
I thought he was funny back then too. Never heard his political views before... I doubt you'll hear them on Millers show either. My guess Danna is on for a few jokes to kill time. Really who want's to listen to Dennis Miller in any format these days?

or out of the business.

Or are you saying his material for the Church Lady, Wayne, etc., were stolen from another comedian? I have never heard that.

36. No, I mean he filched stuff off other comics
A lot of comics do. It's not well-known by the public, but it is well-known among comics and
those who know them. It's one of the reasons Robin Williams (when he did stand-up) was disliked.
He used to rip-off other comics' routines.

Carlos Mencia does it also. Dana Carvey did this, too.

29. Saw him on Mahr's show a while back
and he was an anachronism. It was sad. He wasn't knowledgeable or witty. He did some mildly funny stuff on SNL and that was all he had in the arsenal.

His short lived series featured some pretty solid liberal support (Colbert and Smigel among others).

12. Theismann is out at MNF, but Miller still the all-time worst there.
They have had good ones (Dierdorf, Karras) as MNF color commentators, but the worst was that smug piece of tripe, Dennis Miller. They almost hired Limbaugh; he is about the only one who could have knocked Miller off his perch as worst all time.

26. By the way, how's Faux News' "Daily Show" ripoff
doing in the ratings? I haven't heard much since the initial gushing from the rightwing hate-radio talkers. The snippets I caught online were dreadful. Even the Kool-Aid kids at Free Republic were complaining.

34. They seem to have rerun the 2(?) episodes a number of times each.
To compare this pathetic attempt at humor with The Daily Show like the rightwing gushers have done is, well, pathetic. This is the show they should put the emetic and wretchedly unfunny Miller on. He's a perfect fit!

27. Will they give him a new monkey and another paid audience?
Damn, but it was funny watching the floundering going on to save his talk show. First they gave him a monkey sidekick, then they had to run ads in industry papers begging people to show up for the tapings, and promising payment.

35. Well, here's a typical (?) performance.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=ymXKn6qZoCs

This clip is 5:42 in length. I watched the whole thing without cracking a smile. Was it even supposed to be funny? The audience laughs sometimes. If you make it to almost the end, you will hear surprisingly sincere praise and respect for Kerry's Vietnam service: "That is, to me, a far more inspirational thing than George Bush will ever do, including being the President of the United States." (The audience applauds.)

Not as bad as I expected, but not funny either.
