Have we got enough data yet? Republicans are just not funny. They don't get humor.

The Post cartoon, Mallard Fillmore, the Faux Daily Show copy attempt. The only time that Republicans are funny is when they are trying not to be - by either being just plain pathetic (any time Boner or Graham or Bush open their mouths), or they just act beyond any human possibilities and the only defense is to laugh at them.

But do they ever know how to be mean, spiteful, cruel and inappropriate.

God Damn them all.

The whole film was filled with nothing but lame sight gags and racist jokes, it was a horrible movie from beginning to end. If American Carol is the best the right-wing can come up with it proves the point of the OP very well.

3. Here's the problem

Right wing humor usually attacks the victims. They always got angry about Bush/Cheney jokes but think liberals are humorless because we didn't laugh at their latest racist/sexist/bigot joke.

Their attempts at "funny" are nothing more than badly-disguised attacks on someone or something with whom they don't agree or of whom they don't approve.

Real humor requires smarts, and, while some GOPigs are smart - I think Cheney was smart - they're utterly lacking in wit, which requires a certain level of sophistication and intelligence.

Also, they seem to be wildly insecure, as evidenced by their persistent attack mode, and it takes a beautiful degree of self-confidence to be able to laugh at things, even - or perhaps especially - yourself.

Without that grace, that ability to be self-deprecating, without the smarts and the generosity of spirit that is required for true wit, they're left without anything except their snarling mode, which, sadly, seems to define them.

What they lack in wit, they make up for with anger.

Sometimes I get this close to feeling sorry for them.

Then I realize it's time for my medication.
