except I believe the corporate media's real targets are the young females buying those rags, by appealing to their adolescent insecurities regarding their own body image.

I would call this, the molding effect by the corporate media shaping the "consumer" mentality, focusing on raising to preeminence style over substance and superficial concerns over depth of character.

This in effect becomes a subliminal, marketed self-fulfilling prophecy of sorts all for the sake of profit.

I'm concerned about the anorexia epidemic in Hollywood, they're destroying women and their sense of self with this shit. And it's all tied in... the mocking of Jessica Simpson and others for putting on a few pounds, while producers and agents push push push their stars to get thinner and thinner. Do they want us to just disappear? is that it? Look at Kelly Ripa? She hawks appliances on TV and yet looks to weigh now around 85 pounds. That is not a naturally thin look, nor is Lohans. I wish the women in entertainment would fight back and stop destroying themselves, and in turn destroy the women to view them as role models (there is a reason advertising in a billion dollar industry -- it influences us in how we want to see ourselves.) It has to stop. Lohan needs an intervention again.. this time for her weight. And before anyone claims that she is healthy, she is a chain smoker now....
