I am masochistic enough to read comments on AOL and other public forums and wow, they HATE Chicago these days don't they?

1. Always a close runner up after San Francisco.
And Los Angeles and new England cities come after that...you know...places with culture, diversity, and high levels of education.

6. Doh!
Skipped by the obvious!

Stupidly, I forgot the town actually still making something we still can export...and that they hate with blind and raging passion.

5. I will give you culture and education... but diversity???
All white and Asian cities are by definition not all that diverse.

7. With the exception of some new England towns yes, diversity.

Boston has it. Chicago has it. SF has it. LA has it. Granted I include Oakland in SF...but even without it's pretty diverse the last time I checked.

8. Well including Oakland into San Fran is kinda cheating.
It's like including Bridgeport into Fairfield county CT and claiming the area is diverse.

2. Good.
I live in Chicago, and while it's not exactly liberal paradise on Earth, we're damn proud to be progressive here, and to have our president call this city his home. I only WISH Chi-town was the epicenter of American Socialism, as the RWers falsely claim.

4. Roland Burris sure didn't help matters, though.
He and Blagojevich are screwing both their state and their party, and that means especially Obama.

9. Yeah, Chicagoan here. I'm expecting a special election for senator and a repub to fill the seat.
The state isn't as blue as people think. Chicago is. IL isn't. The local press LOVES the blago/burris stories. Obama did get a lot of votes in republican parts of the state, but he was running against alan keyes.

You might ask why I expect a special election and not an appointment for the senate seat. The local media the republicans and some dems are calling for a special election and it seems like many people feel that way. The trust for dem politicians is fading. I'm hoping Gov Pat Quinn can change some of this. He already has some great ideas for change.

11. We (in Chicago) have temporarily taken their attention away from NYC.
Not to worry, as soon as they remember NYC exists, it will again take the top spot.

13. The RW media hatemongers have to have something to focus their hate and invective on.

The sheepies have a short attention span and the RW media hatemongers will use whatever is handy.

15. Oh there was plenty of that here during the primaries.
In fact, there's a resident DU whipping boy who's had this weird anti-Chicago obsession for years now, and it's actually pretty funny to watch.
