Shame, shame, shame on Bill Moyers in the '60s:
Edited on Thu Feb-19-09 11:34 AM by originalpckelly
"Even Bill Moyers, a White House aide now best known as a liberal television commentator, is described in the records as seeking information on the sexual preferences of White House staff members. Moyers said by e-mail yesterday that his memory is unclear after so many years but that he may have been simply looking for details of allegations first brought to the president by Hoover."

This is from a story about the FBI researching Jack Valenti's sexual orientation during his time as an el BJ aide.

I bet he doesn't remember it, it happened so long ago, but it shows that even guys we think are really great have done some really shitty things in their lives.

1. guys we think are really great have done some really shitty things in their lives.
Case in point: Robert Byrd

He used to be in the Klan

He has since denounced them and apologized for his membership

2. That's one crappy heading given the content.
Shame, shame on many of us for what we did 30 years ago...

6. It was a totally different era.
The entire culture was homophobic in those days. Allegations of homosexuality got you thrown out of the military, fired from government jobs, put in jail, and worse--and the public at large, including the liberals, was OK with that. Hell yes it was wrong, but virtually EVERYBODY thought that way. Dammit, I know I did. I think we were all very wrong, but I also think it's very wrong to judge Moyers, actions of that era by today's standards.
