Email I received from a conservative friend
Edited on Thu Feb-19-09 12:48 PM by 108
Where do I even start on this garbage?

The American Left and Islamic Right both dislike what America stands for, so for now they hold hands in common cause like a pair of gay lovers standing in line to get their marriage certificate. It of course doesn't matter that the Islamists oppose the very freedoms and social justice reforms liberals champion, such as gay rights, reproductive freedom, equal rights for women, a state free from religious constraints, etc.. We've seen this before: the Fabian Socialists on their knees licking Lenin's boots; decades later Mao became their hero, and then in the 1970s the left rooted for Khomeini to overthrow the Shah of Iran, who's liberal "white revolution" gave women the right to vote, free food to mothers with babies, ended feudalism, extended public health benefits to rural areas, and so on.

The Islamists and leftists both believe in a socialist utopia. But the two utopias are quite different. The Leftist utopia could not co-exist with the Islamist utopia. Islamists would not allow freedom from religion, for example. In the end leftists would meet the same fate as Mrs. Hassan.

So why is there a Leftist-Islamist Alliance? Both hate capitalism and western civilization, so for now they're teaming up against a common enemy. Islamists and leftists both see history occuring in stages leading up to their vision of utopia. The fall of capitalism is part of that process.

And so we see Noam Chomsky meeting with Hezbollah, leftists feeling sorry for Saddam and Gitmo terrorists, Hugo Chavez claiming that he and the Iranian president are two brothers united by a single fist, Carlos the Jackal writing that only an alliance between Islamists and Marxists can topple America, Fidel Castro claiming that Iran and Cuba together can bring the U.S. to it's knees, Ramsey Clarke offering support to Ayatollah Khomeini, Islamists and leftists both favoring mass immigration, communist law firms working on the side of Gitmo detainees, and so on.

political views - especially in such a stupid and insulting way.

Reich wing family we are stuck with but "friends" - no.

7. Seems your friend is an idiot. Are your enemies any smarter?
Welcome to DU. I jest of course.
Were it me I would send them <copy all> a note that went something like this:
"You realize that this is nothing but a conglomeration of right wing talking points and unsubstantiated and false charges.
I no longer have time to put up with this kind of crap anymore. Due to the Bush disaster I am now working to jobs and must cut down on frivolous use of electricity. Reading email like this falls in the latter. Please take me off your email list.
When the recovery kicks in and I am down to one job and can afford some free time, I will notify you so that I can read your uminformed screeds on how Obama ruined the economy.
Sincerely,
108"

thoughts on the topic(s).

Bet you don't hear back from them, but if you do; the response should be interesting.

10. No place to start. They've never met or listened to a Muslim, a terrorist, or a liberal.
The basic rejection of the whole thing is in the first line. The Left loves America, the Right hates it. The Right wants it to become Nazi Germany, the Left wants it to live up to the goals and dreams of the Founders and our founding documents, the Declaration and the Constitution. The Right only wants the Second Amendment, and wants to throw out everything else, especially the parts about equality and separation of religion and government. In that, they are perfectly in alignment with the handful of Muslims who actually support terrorism.

The line between Muslim fundamentalists and the Republicans is so thin it's invisible, which explains why Bush gave Bin Laden everything he could have wished for after 9-11. I suspect that if Bin Laden is still alive, his nickname for Bush would be Genie, because he's granted so many of Bin Laden's wishes.

Beyond that, the person is so uninformed and delusional as to not really be worth talking to, at least on politics.

Both listen to some hate-filled moron define the other side and convince them to despise to the point of slaughter a group of people they've never tried to understand or know.

32. This is what I had immediately replied with
So the American left is equal to Islamic Fundamentalists...that's pretty far fetched...the left is what keeps Christian Fundamentalists from creating their own version of the Islamic State...Islamic States have no "left"...

You say that they could not exist together, which is true, but then you tie them together by your laughable assertion that the left hates "what America stands for", capitalism and western civilization...

Again, what is your version of what America and western civilization stands for? Also in your eyes, what would America look like without the "left"?

hate gay rights

hate equal rights for women
hate a state free from religious constraints

21. Your friend is an idiot parrot
He's simply repeating what he's been told to think by other nutjobs. Look for the tell-tale phrases such as "Leftist-Islamist Alliance." The so called paleoconservatives are all rabid about a leftist-Islamist alliance that exists only in their own imaginations. They spew about this as a kind of chaff to deflect attention from the very real alliance between big oil and Saudi Wahabbis.

27. I have conservative friends...

And they would never send me a load of codswallop like that-

You might want to reassess what it means to be a "friend"

A friend respects your views even though they may not agree with you 100%

Heres a good example:
Man we've known for over 5 years works with my husband. Hubby and he were discussing the stimulus package.
Hubby declared that there were some things I liked, and others I didn't (I won't go into that right now) Surprised he replies
"I feel the same way about those things..."
Moment of quiet...
Man says "I guess even though your wife is a Liberal (I don't think he knows there are all stages of wanting rights for everyone) and I'm a Reaganite (his words) we can see eye to eye on this. She's a smart cookie."

There have been MANY times this man and I have sat and talked politics, finances, and religion. Always respectful, and informative though we may not agree.

THAT my dear, is a friend. Not sure what you would call someone who sent you that tripe knowing your world views.

Just replace the words as needed:

The Republican Party and conservatives both dislike what America stands for, so for now they follow each other in common cause like sheep standing in line to get slaughtered. It of course doesn't matter that the Republicans oppose the very freedoms and social justice reforms conservatives champion, such as spending restraints, nation building, fair trade, etc.. We've seen this before: the Brown Shirts on their knees licking Hitler's boots; decades later Eugene McCarthy became their hero, and then in the 1980s the right rooted for Ronald Reagan to sell weapons to our enemies, ruin the lives of air traffic controllers, and plunge our country into debt.

The conservatives and Republicans both believe in a Nazi utopia. But the two utopias are quite different. The Republican utopia could not co-exist with the conservative utopia. conservatives would not allow a powerful unitary executive branch, for example. In the end conservatives would meet the same fate as Scooter Libby.

So why is there a Republican-conservative Alliance? Both hate minorities and women's rights, so for now they're teaming up against a common enemy. Republicans and conservatives both see history occuring in stages leading up to their vision of utopia. The fall of the working class is part of that process.

And so we see Newt Gingrich meeting with John Boehner, Conservatives feeling sorry for Larry Craig, David Vitter claiming that he and Ted Haggart are two brothers united by a common prostitute, Rush Limbaugh writing that only an alliance between conservatives and Republican Congressmen can cause Obama to fail and topple a Democratic America, Pat Robertson claiming that war in Iraq and Iran together can bring about the rapture, Sean Hannity offering support to the KU Klux Klan, Republicans and conservatives favoring warrantless wire tapping, economic recovery, and both hoping America falls flat on it's face in order to regain the reins of power.

Then I'd laugh at him and his silly observations.
